Official: AC Milan vs. PSG starting XIs – Krunic benched as Musah starts

By Isak Möller -

Stefano Pioli has announced his starting XI for tonight’s big game between AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. Compared to the reverse fixture, the manager has made two changes including putting Rade Krunic on the bench.

Tonight’s game is very important for Milan who have collected just two points after the first three games in the Champions League. A win would bring them right back into the Round of 16 race, but it won’t be easy.

Davide Calabria will start on the right-hand side of the defence, as opposed to Pierre Kalulu who started in the reverse fixture, and Fikayo Tomori will be the right centre-back today as well.

In midfield, Tijjani Reijnders will take the spot of Rade Krunic, with Yunus Musah playing to the left. Most likely, they will alternate positions throughout the game.

Finally, Christian Pulisic is back from injury and will thus partner up with Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao in attack.

Official Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Thiaw, Hernandez; Loftus-Cheek, Reijnders, Musah; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.

Bench: Mirante, Nava; Bartesaghi, Florenzi; Adli, Krunić, Pobega; Chukwueze, Jović, Okafor.

Official PSG XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Skriniar, Marquinhos, L. Hernandez; Zaire-Emery, Ugarte, Vitinha; Dembele, Kolo Muani, Mbappe.

Bench: Letellier, Tenas; Mukiele; Fabián Ruiz, Lee, Soler; Barcola, Ramos

  1. Let’s hope that Milan scores a goal, so the impressive run of Pioli’s coached team not scoring a goal in 5 UCL games in a row stops. Anything more than that would be a miracle.

    1. One day, just for fun, I’d like to see a team qualify with six 0-0 draws. It’s possible as:

      Team 1 – 10pts (2-4-0)
      Team 2 – 6pts (0-6-0)
      Team 3 – 5pts (0-5-1)
      Team 4 – 5pts (0-5-1)

  2. We meet again with agent Dollarrumma, Skriniar the ex-inter, Lucas brother of Theo, and OFC Mbappe a fans of San Siro club. Welcome to the jungle.

  3. Calling it now, 1h before kick off- Milan 0 P$G 3.
Honestly I would like for us to win, but maybe todays losing is blessing in disguise- reason for sacking Mr I-know-the-best Pioli

    Forza Milan!!!

  4. On paper, a strong squad, but can it be called a team? Is it a well-drilled machine with tactical game plan and discipline? Only Pioli can answer these questions?

  5. I want to see blood and guts out there tonight. They need to come out of the gates like wild animals. No more timidly moving the ball around nicey nicey. Bring back the spirit of Ibra, a crazy warrior who gives it his all. It is time to gooooooooo………

  6. We look very good on paper .
I am expecting a good performance tonight .especially the front 3 Giroud / pulisic / leao
We have a very strong line up ..

  7. With dortmund wining we really need a win as i had hoped for a draw between them which could have made our way a bit easier. I cant say im confident about a win but lets hope for a good result for us tonight.

  8. 2-0 by half time lol. I think Musah will be the 6 not Reinjders or else that’s just asking for trouble. Also, once more, playing with personnel we’ve never played before in a high stakes match. What could go wrong? 🤷‍♂️Why not just go with Adli 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

    1. I’m confused, which personnel have we not played with before? Musah, Reijnders and RLC together? Adli has hardly played more with Reijnders and RLC. I don’t think it will make a difference.

      1. We haven’t played Musah as a 6 specifically nor Reinjders as a 6. Ideally they’d play before a high stakes game in that role is basically what I’m saying. Makes sense?
Hence why I said, just use Adli if you dont want to go with Krunic because we know he can play there, do we know what Deers or Musah will do there? It’s just very hopeful sigh 😔. It can only go two ways really well or disastrous

      2. FYI I actually thought we’d be blooding Musah for the role waaaaaaaay before now in order to replace Krunic but that didn’t happen. We only tried Adli because of injury to Krunic. This falls on the coach. That’s just terrible game management

    1. Lol yes let’s leave a centre back that’s good on headers free on the far post smh 🤦‍♂️
We totally abandoned man mark in the 6 yard box, zone otherwise? Wth

    1. Leaoooooo. Calabria looks like some other player for now, he is good forward actually. They all look better than previous games.

  9. 10 mins in. Leao takes a crap shot instead of passing. Pulisic losses the ball 4 times. Theo dives twice in the same move. RLC misses a good chance and then leaves his man unmarked for the goal.
    WTF!!!

    We are playing suicide stuff

  10. Great first half but we propably should have scored at leasr a goal or two more but besides of the man marking at psgs goal ive been pleased by our boys performance tonight, now they just need to keep it up.

    1. Indeed very entertaining if very risky. Great to see a positive attitude and energy, Theo still been off tho.
We grew into it and created great chances but to be fair PSG could have had a couple more.

Now what happens when teams tire, all bets are off, it’s Leao v Mbappe! Delicious!

        1. Class!!

I am on edge. I hope we don’t try to sit on this, they are too rapid and lethal.

Everyone playing well, however i would like to see Okafor come on for Giroud soon, the game is opening up. Plus psg bringing on fresh legs.
Chucky for Pulisic might be worth trying too. Just hit them with pace

This has been high energy, so hopefully pioli doesn’t take too long.

As I’m writing the pressure is mounting on us

  11. Well, I think I got what I wanted, which was for the team to show some spirit. I worry about conceding more goals,
but if we remain aggressive and try to get on top of them, good things might happen. Thankfully Leao is back in form. I want better from Pulisic, who wasted some good chances with
    poor decisions and passes.
Let’s hope for the best my Milan friends.

  12. They have made 4 changes now. We are gettting too deep. Need to bring on okafor and Chucky, we will play on the break, please Pioli do it

  13. Got to give it to RLC. What a unit. No other way to stop him than to ippon him. And this midfield actually works. Looks like somekind of a breed of 433/4231 with all three interchanging roles between them.

  14. Awesome performance,
to all of you who in recent days have been hoping for us to lose tonight because your hate for pioli superceeds our progress, SOD OFF.

Amazing performance even though we could have won with a larger margin.

Espoecially appreciated the mentality and quick passing and movement for eachother and for that matter players like leao showing up as leader and fighting as a warriors tracking back.

Forza Milan and in my view a well deserved victory even though we ended up under great pressure as well towards the end of the match.

    1. `beautiful, just beautiful!!
      That was a performance!

I would still say we should be killing games instead of suffering such pressure.
Okafor did great after coming on.
I’m a little frustrated Pioli didn’t bring on fresh legs earlier, like Okafor and Chucky, especially when it was clear we would have loads of space on the counter. A better team may have equalised.

Anyway stellar performance by Calabria ( please no more hate on here for him, this was Mbappe!)
      Also Tomori and Thiaw!
Leao Bravo – I love to see you try harder
RLC – immense, the player we missed
Musah – what a dynamic young man, love him!
Reijnders – statement performance, un genio
      Giroud – respect
      Theo/Pulisic – can do better
Mike – you help me sleep at night!!

      Bravo regazzi!!

      1. It was.

Ive always appreciated calabria just as well as i appreciated abate back in the days who pretty much also was constantly taunted by the supporters calabria did great against kwaraskhelia in 3 of 4 matches against napoli last season and played one bad one, I generally trust him. Musah should have scored in the first half but one of the summer transfers i was looking forward to see as gattuso highly praised him so glad to see him perform well. Same with reijnders, great fighter and a player who knows how to cover the ball and make unsuspected recaptures of it and make moves forward,
Mike did some great saves no question there and deffently also calmed my nerves but overall i think we worked as a team and that is overall the most important thing of all.

        1. also a pleasure seeing donnarumma getting harrassed throughout the match by 90% of the supporters, A well deserved defeat for him and psg and even though not two straight up biscycle kick goals today by both of our teams those matches was freaking awesome and super entertaining.
