Official: Roma vs. AC Milan starting XIs – Bonera names interesting side for friendly

Daniele Bonera has named the starting line-up that AC Milan will field for their friendly match against Roma in Australia this afternoon.

Milan are taking on Roma in a rare post-season friendly at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia. Around 60,000 fans are expected for the match which shows that there is certainly demand on the other side of the world.

It will be a proud moment for Bonera too as he leads the Rossoneri on his birthday, albeit only in an interim capacity after the departure of Stefano Pioli as head coach was confirmed before the Salernitana game on Saturday.

It has been reported all week that Milan would name quite a strong side for the game given that Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic and Antonio Mirante are the only absences due to personal reasons, and it has proven to be so with some interesting experiments too.

Roma – who are led by Daniele De Rossi – have also named a strong side for the game, with both sides clearly wanting to give the fans in Australia a show before the curtain finally comes down on 2023-24.

Official Milan XI: Sportiello; Calabria, Kalulu, Gabbia, Theo; Reijnders, Adli, Pobega; Florenzi, Giroud, Jimenez.

Bench: Nava, Torriani, Loftus-Cheek, Jovic, Okafor, Tomori, Thiaw, Terracciano, Musah, Simic, Zeroli, Bartesaghi.

Official Roma XI: Svilar, Llorente, Huijsen, Smalling, N’Dicka, Bove, Aouar, Angelino, Baldanzi, Dybala, Abraham.

Bench: Boer, Kehayov, Karsdorp, Azmoun, Nardozzi, Feola, Almaviva, Mirra, Litti, Della, Tumminelli.

  1. You see, this line shows that Pioli is an average coach, I spoke about Bonera sometime ago, people like him are not flashy or grab headlines, but they know what they are doing.
What I am talking specifically about , first the 3 man midfield is better, then the other thing to notice is Jimenez playing as a left sided winger / attacker, if you look at his movement , the way he holds the ball, and his build and Physique, he is not suited as a right back or left back, the best position for him is as a winger, his movement and intelligence will only improve, Bonera saw this, but Pioli did not.

    1. LMAO 😂😂🤣🤣🤣 yes I do recall you talking about how “good” he was even as a player. Well there ya go, a whole 5 goals shipped. Thank goodness you’re not in management or else you’d hire him on the basis that he did well when Pioli was suspended. “He kept his composure on the sidelines” or something to that effect lol. That somehow made him better than Pioli. Don’t make me laugh 😂

  2. Since I saw Boneras starting lineup with just one offensive player I knew… well thankfully it is the match it is.
