AC Milan have officially confirmed the signing of the forward Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea on a long-term deal.
The news about Milan’s interest in Nkunku first broke on Wednesday evening, and after that, the negotiations progressed very quickly. The Frenchman landed in Milan on Thursday evening and after undergoing his medical on Friday morning, he signed the contract on Friday evening.

Doubts about his role aside, it’s a strong reinforcement for the Rossoneri and it has been reported by Matteo Moretto that the deal will cost €38m. There is an additional €4m in bonuses, but these are very difficult to achieve and will thus likely not be triggered. The player will earn €5m per year.
Nkunku to AC Milan: Now official
A statement on the official website reads as follows: “AC Milan is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea FC. The French forward has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2030.
“Born in Lagny-sur-Marne (France) on 14 November 1997, Nkunku developed in the Paris Saint-Germain academy and made his first-team debut for the Club in 2025. He went on to score 11 goals in 78 appearances for the Parisian giants, winning two Coupe de France titles, three French Supercups and two Coupe de la Ligue titles.
“In the summer of 2019, he made the switch to RB Leipzig, for whom he played 172 games and scored 70 goals, winning two DFB-Pokal titles as well as the Bundesliga golden boot in 2022/23. It was in 2023 that he moved to England to join Chelsea. He ended his time in West London with 18 goals in 62 games, as well as triumphs in the Conference League and Club World Cup this summer.
“He made his full international debut for France in March 2022 after having risen through Les Bleus’ youth set-up. To date, he has 14 caps and one goal for his country.
“Nkunku will wear the number 18 shirt,” the statement concludes.
Since Nkunku hasn’t been called up for the French national team, Allegri will be able to work with his new signing throughout the entire international break. That is certainly good news, and Rafael Leao should soon be back in action too.

His Chelsea experience was derailed by an injury he suffered early, but prior to Chelsea he was a top player in Germany and Europe.
If Pulisic can come to Italy, after few poor and injury riddled season at Chelsea, and be one of the best players in the league, Nkunku, who is a better player than Pulisic, can also be one of the best players in the league.

fair play, first signing I’ve actually been excited about since Pulisic. We desperately needed to replace Okafor/Felix and the strikers and hopefully he’s an upgrade on everyone that left.
I do think it’s a recipe for disaster with our current manager but hopefully Nkunku outlasts him.

Nkunku is a classy player when fit. He didn’t fit in at Chelsea and was never going to win over cole Palmer. If he recaptures his Bundesliga form then we’re in for a treat. Look like Allegri is playing fast pace counter attacking style with Leao Pulisic and Nkunku.
I’ll obviously welcome the player and cheer for him on the pitch during games. So welcome and good luck!
But mannn 40m? That’s alot for a player who not only has a bad injury history but also has never seen the form he had prior to Chelsea. Let’s hope he can recover that form, but not everyone can be a Pulisic.

Such a strange signing, seems very expensive compared to our usual signings for someone with no obvious place in the team and a questionable injury record. I hope we put him through the same various tests as Boniface because it could go very wrong very quickly.
Potential to be exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing it, but not confident of it working out; would have been much happier with a loan.
