Niclas Fullkrug is now officially an AC Milan player, as confirmed not by the club themselves but by Lega Serie A.
As widely expected for days, Milan used the morning of the first day of the winter transfer window – January 2, 2026 – to register the contract of Füllkrug. This is confirmed by the Serie A website, which has a page listing all the operations that have been officially completed.

Fullkrug arrives from West Ham United, where he spent a year and a half without finding the success he was seeking after a better spell in Germany with Borussia Dortmund. The player joins Milan on loan with an option to buy, as widely reported in recent days.
Fullkrug has been training at Milanello with his new teammates since Boxing Day, thanks to the clearance granted by the London club. This evening, the former Werder Bremen man will be available to Massimiliano Allegri for the match against Cagliari.
The German has also apparently decided to take the No.9 shirt, which has been left vacant since Luka Jovic’s departure in the summer. While waiting for the club to confirm everything with their own press release, the registration has at least got over the line in time for tonight.

The official statement
As an update, Milan have now confirmed the deal: “AC Milan are delighted to announce that Niclas Füllkrug has joined the Club on loan from West Ham United, with an option to make the move permanent.
“Born in Hanover, Germany on 9 February 1993, Niclas Füllkrug came through the Werder Bremen youth academy and spent his early playing career in Germany, featuring for Greuther Fürth, Nürnberg and Hannover 96 before returning to Werder Bremen in 2019.
“In the summer of 2023 he joined Borussia Dortmund, where he made 42 appearances and scored 15 goals in a single season, three of them in the Champions League – a competition in which he also started in the final against Real Madrid.
“After his spell with Borussia, the German striker made the switch to the Premier League, joining West Ham United. In November 2022, Füllkrug earned his first call-up to the senior national team and was included in Germany’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar. Niclas Füllkrug will wear the number 9 shirt.”

hope he plays with nothing to lose with his foot out the door in the summer – pressure free. Maybe then we can get production out of him.
I personally think Italian football will suit him, and also : he can’t do worse than Gimenez…
How he dares to take the no 9 shirt. He better delivers since he has decided to take the pressure.
