AC Milan have officially announced their first signing of the summer transfer window, as Samuele Ricci arrives from Torino.
Ricci has been linked with Milan repeatedly over the past few years even dating back to his time with Empoli. Rumours in the last few months seemed to suggest that it was only a matter of time before he joined the Rossoneri, and sure enough things got over the line.

Milan announce Ricci capture
This evening, on the club’s official website, the deal was announced as completed with the Italian midfielder signing a deal until 2029, with the option of an extra season.
“AC Milan announces that it has definitively acquired the sports performances of the footballer Samuele Ricci from Torino FC. The Italian midfielder has signed a contract with the Rossoneri Club until 30 June 2029 with an option right in favour of the Club for an extension until 30 June 2030.”
Fabrizio Romano tweeted the terms of the deal on Saturday afternoon: it will be a total package of €25m, which is broken down into a €23m fixed amount and then the rest in add-ons.
Ricci made 113 appearances for Torino across all competitions, with four goals and seven assists to his name in that time. He has also been capped 10 times by Italy at international level, and he can play both as a regista and as a mezzala.
Quality signing. Midfield already looks good.

I like the signing. Let’s see how the rest of the window goes and who else we bring in. Ricci is defensive minded first but does lack the quality going forward. If Modric fills that role we have more balance in the midfield compared to last season.
and that’s what we need. A defense first guy. IMHO Fofana can go forward; and at least for france, has done it well. He hasnt showed that with us…. for many reasons. Also, theoretically RLC (who management seems to adore) can and likes to push forward. Will he stay healthy enough to show.. who knows. For now, Ricci is a good signing and a sensible price. especially for an italian.

If we sign Jashari to go along with Modic and Ricci, plus Fofana and RLC our midfield is already much stronger than last season, even with the departure of Reijnders. Well done.

Finally contract have 1 year option. Hopefully written in a way that Milan can exercise to further renew at a predetermined salary. This safes guard Milan in contract renewal after 2-3 years. No more deadlock after 2 years
