Official: AC Milan appoint Vincenzo Vergine as new Head of the Youth Sector

AC Milan have officially announced that they have appointed Vincenzo Vergine as the new Head of the Youth Sector.

A statement on the club website states that Vergine will take the role vacated by Angelo Carbone’s departure, having held the same position for 13 years at Fiorentina, from 1 July 2006 to 31 December 2019, and then for the last two years at Roma.

He joins strengthen the process of developing the talents in the Rossoneri’s youth academy, hopefully propelling it to become a leader in Italy and Europe.

Vergine’s previous experience has seen many young players make their debut in various European professional leagues, such as Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic among others at Fiorentina.

The new manager will work at both the PUMA House of Football and the Milanello training centre where the Primavera train for a unique pathway that embraces the club’s entire academy.

Convinced by Milan’s youth project, Vergine left Roma where – during the period under his direction – he won six trophies with the various teams of the Giallorossi’s youth sector.
