Official: AC Milan Women sign legendary Danish forward Nadia Nadim

By Steph Insixiengmay -

Earlier today, AC Milan officially announced that they have signed Danish forward Nadia Nadim until the end of the current campaign.

On the Milan website, the club confirmed that Nadim has signed a contract that will keep her at the Rossonere until the end of the season, while she will wear the No.8 shirt.

Nadim is a storied player whose career has spanned two continents. Among the many teams she’s played for includes Fortuna Hjørring, PSG, Manchester City, the Portland Thorns, and Racing Louisville.

She is also the third former Portland Thorns player to play for Milan, after Verónica Boquete and Celeste Boureille.

The 36-year-old also has experience playing against AC Milan players, both during friendly tournaments hosted by Racing Louisville and during qualification for the 2022 Women’s Euros, where Denmark played against Italy.

Nadim has also won a plethora of trophies during her career, including the NWSL’s Shield and Championship with the previously mentioned Thorns. She also won the Division 1 Féminine league title with PSG and was a runner-up at the 2017 Euros with Denmark.

She is also the daughter of a former Afghan general, Rabani Khan, who was killed while battling the Taliban. After his death, her mother was forced to sell everything and flee the country as they feared for their lives. They eventually made their way to Pakistan, before being accepted into a refugee camp in Denmark.

It was during those heady days in the camps where she developed a love of football while playing with the other children there. Nadim was eventually granted Danish citizenship and has gone on to represent her country at the senior level, as she made a total of 68 appearances for De rød-hvide.

And if that weren’t enough, Nadim is also a licensed medical doctor, who specializes in the field of reconstructive surgery.

The high-profile player has been profiled by the likes of CNN, the L.A. Times, and the official Olympics website.

Nadim will no doubt elevate the Rossonere’s status by playing for the team and will hopefully help turn the season around for them as well.

The forward has scored a total of 63 goals and registered a total of 24 assists during her club career. The AC Milan Women will also be in action against Pomigliano tomorrow. Kickoff time will be at 12:30 PM CET.

Nadim has been summoned and will be available for the team tomorrow. And once she does start playing, Milan will be hoping for her elevate their profile both on and off the pitch.
