By Nikita Fesyukov -

Mattia Caldara is having a nightmare of a season. The former Atalanta and Juventus defender has struggled with various injuries and is now officially out of action until the end of the season and also for the beginning of the next Rossoneri campaign.

The club made an announcement on the matter on the official website:

The Club announces that Mattia Caldara has picked up an injury following a collision in training yesterday. The defender underwent keyhole surgery today to repair the damage to his anterior crucial ligament.

The operation was carried out by Professor Pier Paolo Mariani, with Rossoneri club doctor Mario Brozzi in attendance, and was a complete success. Recovery time is estimated to be between five to six months.

24-year-old has featured in only two matches for Gennaro Gattuso’s team this season, once in the Europa League and once in the Coppa Italia against Lazio last week. He is yet to make his debut for the Rossoneri in Serie A.
