Official: Charles De Ketelaere completes move to Atalanta on loan with option deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have officially confirmed that Charles De Ketelaere has completed his move to Atalanta on what will be an initial loan deal.

On their official website, Milan have announced that De Ketelaere has joined Atalanta on loan until 30 June 2024. The Nerazzurri will retain the chance to make the deal permanent due to the insertion of an option to buy.

The club go on to wish the Belgian all the best for the coming season. Atalanta BC have also confirmed the news on their website too, also revealing that De Ketelaere has chosen 17 as his shirt number.

De Ketelaere joined Milan after a season with Club Brugge in which he netted 18 times and added 10 assists, earning him young footballer of the year in Belgium, but he failed to score in 40 appearances for the Rossoneri.

Atalanta also extend a warm welcome to Charles, wishing him the best satisfaction – personal and as a team – in the Nerazzurri shirt.

      1. Maybe by then we will have different coach who will actually know how to play CdK. And considering many have already decided Pioli is the next scapegoat.

        1. There is no obligation to buy for this, which was originally agreed with Atalanta. CDK just doesn’t suit the style of football we play, so it would be interesting to see what will happen next season. Let’s see what we will do to keep him or sell him because I think we will flourish under Gasperini.

        2. About Pioli I find it a bit annoying that, despite him being our most succesfull coach since more than a decade, everyone still waits the slightest mistake from him to jump him and ask for a new coach. I guess that when you’re not already a big name, no matter what you do, you’ll never be loved.

        3. Pioli is the most likely scapegoat if things don’t go as they should … but time will tell.

Many coaches haven’t jelled with some players who became successful elsewhere. Milan had Viera and Davids who were sold for peanuts under Capello.
Ancelotti didn’t know how to play Trezeguet … just to name a few. No one is perfect and under Pioli a lot of players have grown and become better.

  1. A shame it didnt go as we all hoped for but best of wishes to him as long he doesnt play against us but unfortunately i expect this one to come back and haunt us but it would also be a shame to see his career go further down the bin with us,

  2. He is goanna burn Seria A to the ground, I am confident. Gasparini can do the magic that Pioli never will learn.

He will be the next player that played in ACM without success, only to blossom elsewhere and afterwards.

    Watch and see.

  3. thank god , from the first game i know he wasn’t going too be gooooood player to us , good luck to him anyway we want that 23 million

  4. People acting like he’s Paqueta. All I can say is I hope Atalanta does redeem him. He had one assist with us all season. His work ethic is poor at best.

    1. Paqueta showed a lot more to Milan, and it was an error to let him go. He did have half of a good season with us. But CDK has never showed anything. Not even anything more some flashes of being nothing more than maybe a good player if he found some sort of consistency.

    2. U guys like to talk rubbish a lot, sometimes coach also field rubbish system. Pioli is not good coach to my concern. Player inter 5times lost 4 and you tell me he’s a good coach with greatness

  5. Best of luck to the guy.
Imo, he showed some silky touches and good ideas, but didn’t deal too well with the tempo and the tight spaces.
Hopefully he can flourish in a system, that seems to suit him better.
I think Atalanta is preparing for a sale of Koopmeiners, either late this window or next summer.
