By Isak Möller -

Diogo Dalot, whose loan at Milan will expire at the end of the month, has been called up to the Portuguese national team. The reason being that Joao Cancelo tested positive for COVID-19, currently in isolation.

Dalot was an important player for the Rossoneri towards the end of the season, impressing the management with his performances. Therefore, one more season at the club shouldn’t be ruled out, but it will depend on Man Utd.

The versatile full-back recently took part in the U21 Euros with Portugal, who finished second after losing the final against Germany. Now, he will be with the senior team as Joao Cancelo has tested positive for COVID-19, per an official statement.

In other words, he will join the team as an emergency solution but he could also get some playing time. The statement also mentioned that many in the team have been vaccinated, meaning an outbreak should be avoided.
