Official: Emil Roback joins FC Nordsjælland on a season-long loan deal

AC Milan forward Emil Roback has joined Danish club FC Nordsjælland on a season-long loan deal, it has been confirmed.

A statement on their official website confirms that the 19-year-old 19-year-old has joined until the end of the season, where he will hopefully get more playing time to further his development having played mostly for the Primavera since arriving from Hammarby in Sweden.

Jan Laursen, the sporting director of the Superliga team, reacted to the signing.

“Emil is a really exciting player who we have followed for many years – from Hammarby and on in Milan – so several years of work are the basis for the fact that we have now succeeded in getting him to FC Nordsjælland,” he said.

“Emil is a player with fantastic pace and touch who prefers the left wing. He has huge potential, but has yet to make a full impact at senior level. We hope he will achieve that at FC Nordsjælland, and we are sure that with his personality and playing style he fits perfectly into the squad both on and off the pitch.

“Initially, he must have time to settle in, because he will join a squad with strong competition, but there is the potential for it to be a very good match – and the agreement also contains a purchase option, which makes it possible for us to extend the cooperation.

“A great job has been done by our scouts over a long period of time, and in addition there has been a very good dialogue with AC Milan and their sporting director. We can feel a great deal of respect for the work that has been delivered as a club and organization over the last long period of time, and they showed great interest in the fact that it was precisely us that Emil ended up with.

“In addition, and probably just as important for us, Emil himself has shown a huge interest in coming to FC Nordsjælland, so in that way everything falls into place.

“In general, we can feel that we are in a very good development and that this gives extra interest. We therefore focus both on being as strong as possible in the short term and at the same time ensuring that we prepare for the future.”

Emil Roback also reacted: “I have seen a fantastic team that is known as the youngest in all of Europe and is still playing at the top of the league. It is impressive. I also know about Right to Dream, who I have followed since I was little and played against them in the Gothia Cup.

“It has always been a difficult team to play against. In addition, I know Ben (Engdahl, ed.) from Sweden, and he has told me that it is a good club to be in. So, all in all, I am very excited to have joined FC Nordsjælland.

“I am a very energetic player and I like to challenge my direct opponent. But the most important thing is of course that I help the team as much as possible. I went to FC Nordsjælland to become a better footballer and help the team, and I am sure that it is the right place for me.”

  1. I don’t know what to make of our youth setup. We seemingly beat other teams to great prospects only to not have them make any impact.

    1. Last year our Primavera was pretty bad overall (starting from coach). As a results, our youth didn’t grow much (barely got out of relegation) …probably Nasti was the lone good news out of that season.
Hopefully this year with Abate things will be different, he seems to be pushing for the same type of play as Pioli, so hopefully that would also make it easier for the best performers to jump to first team.
