It has been reported some weeks ago, but now the news is official: Giorgio Furlani has fully departed from AC Milan.
Furlani was one of four key managerial figures to fall victim to the end of season clear-out by Gerry Cardinale, leaving his role as CEO. Massimiliano Allegri was sacked as head coach, Igli Tare was dismissed and sporting director and Geoffrey Moncada was also given his marching orders.

Yet, it isn’t quite as simple as just an instant dismissal when it comes to board members, for continuity purposes above all. In mid-June, Felice Raimondo explained why Furlani was in fact still the CEO at that point, though now things have changed.
Furlani fully departed
As MilanVibes report, it was a matter of time, but now Furlani is no longer part of Milan in any capacity. This is evident from the company register, which shows the club’s new organisational chart.
It is headed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Paolo Scaroni. The new CEO, Massimo Calvelli follows, and then Gerry Cardinale, who on this list holds a directorship given that – despite being the owner – there is no other function within a Board of Directors.

Stefano Cocirio is also indicated as a representative of the company, but also David Castelblanco, Randy Lewis Levine, Riccardo Stefanelli, Robert Jay Klein and Alfredo Craca are included as advisors.
It will be interesting to see what Furlani’s next professional step will be, as he has several international offers on the table and may have already begun working with one of these companies, which we expect will be announced in the coming weeks.
Massimo Calvelli’s new role will be completely different from that of his predecessor: he will have political involvement, a focus on financial and strategic matters, but will be less involved on the sporting side of things.

Shouldn’t have been sacked. He’s an excellent CEO. He got contracts over the line and keep the club out of debt.
Dude doesn’t know his role. Keep putting his nose in sporting affairs too.
So… You value financial scudetto over the actual one? Furlani was probably the main reason why the team kept getting weaker and weaker after winning the scudetto.
