Official: Infront secure rights to broadcast Serie A abroad with €417m bid – the latest

By Isak Möller -

It took a while for the Serie A clubs to decide the domestic broadcaster of Serie A from next season and onwards. However, as they managed to reach an agreement on that, they have now also agreed on the rights abroad.

As reported by Calcio e Finanza, the league assembly voted unanimously (20/20) to award the TV rights abroad to Infront Sports. The company made an offer of €139m per season for the three-year period between 2021 and 2024, which was accepted.

Their exclusivity doesn’t include the United States and the Middle East, as CBS secured the rights for the former for €57m per year and negotiations are ongoing for the latter area. In total, therefore, the rights abroad should be worth around €200m per year.

Infront will now negotiate with local broadcasters to secure that Serie A will be available to a wide range of people around the world. Finally, however, the first step has been taken after the long and tiresome domestic dispute between the clubs.
