Official: Jan-Carlo Simic joins Anderlecht on permanent deal until 2029

By Oliver Fisher -

Anderlecht have officially announced the signing of central defender Jan-Carlo Simic from AC Milan on a long-term contract.

On their official website, Anderlecht confirm that Simić is their first summer signing and that the 19-year-old has signed a deal until 2029 with them, after reported emerged in recent days stating they had struck a deal with Milan.

Simic spent his childhood years in Germany with Stuttgart, before making the switch to Milan in 2022 at the age of 17. He quickly stood out in the Primavera for his leadership and of course his talent, captaining a side that reached the UEFA Youth League final.

The teenager also featured in six games for the first team last season, coming off the bench against Monza and scoring on his debut at Serie A, creating a moment that he and his family will never forget.

Fabrizio Romano among other sources reported that the Belgian club will pay €3m for the Serbian, while the Rossoneri will maintain a 20% resale clause.

Simic commented on the move as follows: “I am very proud to sign with such a prestigious club as Anderlecht. Everyone knows Anderlecht and the world-class players who started their careers here.

“So it seems like the perfect step for me to continue to grow and learn from the more experienced players. I look forward to celebrating victories with my teammates and the fans.”

  1. At least they got something for him. He didn’t want to renew on a place he wasn’t going to start. He has everything to become a big-time player someday.

  2. Too bad he couldn’t except being one of the CB backups. I believe he is going to have a great career ahead of him

  3. Honestly, this kid needs to be a little more down to earth. He is very young and the best place to learn how to defend is in Italy. He will tank his career at Belgium, but at least being a starter so we will see how he develops but I think the guy is not that special, we will see

  4. What a management….
If he desperately want to live, at least negotiate more efficient. Not 20% resale clause. We can propose 40% just like Bayern with Zirkzee or FC Basel with Calafiori when they agree to let their players to Bologna.

  5. This is on the bald fraud of a coach we had. With such a big crisis at CB he didn’t give him more games even when he did really well when he played. Big shame he’s leaving but I don’t blame the kid one bit. Good luck to him

  6. This is an absolutely disgraceful fumble by management!
There is zero point or merit to our youth system.
This lad was a great option in our first team roster.
This leaves me with zero confidence or respect for any of the management.

Can’t wait for the que of responses from the people who always refer to balancing the books and how we need to believe in the project and the youth specifically.
The same people who say, oh you just want big money signings.

Well i for one would rather have Tomori, Thiaw, Gabbia, Kalulu and Simic than signing Pavlovic for 20m.

These people just chop and change, what is the point of getting excited about Simic and his first team performances or watching the youth league dreaming of a great future team.
    F_ck them all

    #sellthefuture

    1. Yeah cry more but the boy just didn’t want to renew. The same thing happening to youth players of Real, Barcelona and whatever else teams, risking a bit more to have chance to actually play rather than being loaned for 5 years and sitting on a bench in low-rated teams (because if they loan you without option to buy then aren’t gonna play you).

It’s his decision, not Milan’s. And he is not even youth player developed by Milan, spent years in Germany just to move to Milan 2 years ago and then chooses different path.

      1. Very predictable response.

Why would the captain of our Primavera side (a side who got to youth league final) want to leave?

        Well it is pretty simple.
He is a great talent who has shown himself more than capable of contributing to the 1st team roster, along side Thiaw, Kalulu, Tomori, Gabbia.

Instead they wanted him to play in Serie C!!!
So he said , no thanks I’m leaving.

It should have been very simple to convince him to stay but the management is incompetent and they seem to love chopping and changing.

        This is a huge fumble

  7. I don’t think it is a great decision on his part. Equally it’s a real failure of management not convincing him to extend his contract.

  8. It is pioli fault last season . He keep insist playing kjaer instead playing simic . Why playing old defender if his contract wont be renew ?

    1. I agree. This is an example of why Pioli had to go. He would use Kjaer and Giroud constantly at the expense of youth opportunities.

It was more frustrating the last 10 or so games of the season when it was clear we were gonna finish 2nd.

I would like to see us with Tomorri, Gabbia, Simic and Pavlovic going into the season.

  9. I am speechless. This is management failure, coach failure, owner’s failure. Its just one big failure. Period. It should not have happened! Not going to pay a penny to the club next season. You saved enough. Enjoy.
