Official: Jovanovic will officiate Salzburg clash – the precedent with Milan

By Isak Möller -

UEFA have announced the referees for the first round of the Champions League group stage. The Serbian international Srdjan Jovanovic has been assigned to AC Milan’s away game against RB Salzburg.

After the win against Inter, Milan will have to shift focus to their Champions League adventure as they will face Salzburg on Tuesday evening. Starting with a win could be crucial for the Rossoneri, as we know from last season.

UEFA have released the officiating team for the clash, as cited by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, naming the Serbian international Srdjan Jovanovic as the head referee. Only once has he officiated Milan before, when they beat Dudelange 1-0 in the Europa League away from home (18/19 season).

Stefano Pioli made it clear after last night’s clash that they cannot afford to underestimate Salzburg, as the Champions League always demands performances of the highest quality. Hopefully, they will start the campaign in the right way.
