Official: Kessie will feature for Ivory Coast in Olympics – when he could be back

In addition to Pierre Kalulu, Franck Kessie will also take part in the Summer Olympics, which will begin on July 22. This means that the midfielder will miss a good chunk of the pre-season with Milan.

Ivory Coast confirmed, on their Twitter profile, that they have called up Kessie for the tournament. They will face Saudi Arabia, Germany and Brazil in their group, so they could perhaps struggle to make it past that stage.

Should things go well for them, then Kessie will be busy until August 8, but the group stage will come to an end on July 28. Either way, the midfielder will miss a lot as Milan are set to reconvene at Milanello already next Thursday.

As mentioned, Pierre Kalulu has been called up for France but he doesn’t have an important role in the Rossoneri squad. Brahim Diaz was also expected to be called up by Spain but he wasn’t in the end, which is good for Milan.
