The Supercoppa Italiana trophy

Official: Lega Serie A announce 2024 Supercoppa dates – when Milan will play

AC Milan qualified for the Supercoppa last season with a second-place finish, and today, Lega Serie A have announced the dates that the competition will take place.

Whilst the 2023/24 season brought a lot of humiliation for Milan, it has provided an opportunity for silverware and additional funds through the Supercoppa – where the top two from Serie A face the two finalists from the Coppa Italia.

This means that the Rossoneri and Inter qualify from the Serie A rankings, and Atalanta and Juventus represent the Coppa Italia final. With the rankings, Inter face the loser of the Coppa Italia, meaning Milan will play Juventus.

Today, the dates of the fixtures have been announced by the Lega Serie A (via Milan News), and the Diavolo will face the Bianconeri on January 3 2025, with the final taking place on January 6. This means that the away fixture against Como (currently scheduled for January 5) will be postponed to a later date.

It has been eight years since the Rossoneri last lifted the trophy, doing so against Juventus in Qatar in 2016, meaning Paulo Fonseca, or whoever is in charge at that point, will have an opportunity to write themselves into history with Milan looking to record their eighth title, and first silverware in general since the Scudetto in 2021/22.
