Official: AC Milan confirm Colombo has joined Lecce on an initial loan deal

By Isak Möller -

Lorenzo Colombo has officially joined Lecce on loan after being linked with the Serie A side. This was announced by AC Milan just a few minutes ago, also providing some details on the formula used.

The young striker spent last season on loan at SPAL and although he only found the back of the net six times in 34 appearances, he showed his class at times. So much that Lecce opened talks with Milan amid their promotion to the top flight.

On their official website this afternoon, Milan announced that they have sent Colombo to Lecce on loan. The latter side will also have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season, but the Rossoneri have a buy-back too.

“AC Milan can confirm that Lorenzo Colombo has joined US Lecce on loan. Lecce will have an option to make the deal permanent, but the Rossoneri will retain a buyback clause,” the statement read.

Hopefully, Colombo can get consistent playing time and really test his wings in the top flight. Depending on the season, of course, Milan will make a decision but they believe a lot in the 20-year-old.
