Official: AC Milan vs. Dinamo Zagreb starting XIs – Brahim Diaz given the nod

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has named four changes to the starting line-up for the game against Dinamo Zagreb compared to the team that beat Sampdoria on Saturday.

Pioli has chosen to field what is by now a ‘first choice’ defence with Davide Calabria, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez as the back four from right to left in front of goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali are the double pivot as expected, with Brahim Diaz preferred to Charles De Ketelaere in the central attacking midfielder role.

In attack, Alexis Saelemaekers has been given the nod over Junior Messias on the right with Rafael Leao on the opposite flank given he will get a rest against Napoli on Sunday due to being suspended, and Olivier Giroud will lead the line again.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

Bench: Mirante, Jungdal, Ballo-Touré, Dest, Kjaer, Messias, Pobega, Krunic, Gabbia, De Ketelaere.

Official Dinamo Zagreb XI (3-5-2): Livakovic; Ristovski, Sutalo, Peric; Moharammi, Ivanusec, Misic, Ademi, Ljubicic; Petkovic, Orsic.

Bench: Zagorac, Stefulj, Lauritsen, Baturina, Emreli, Bockaj, Drmic, Marin, Theophile-Catherine, Bulat, Dilaver.

  1. Would have liked to see CDK start, he was good in the CL last year. But hopefully he gets a decent stint from the bench and starts against Napoli. Can’t help thinking out strongest defence would be Kjaer,
