Official: MRI shows minor injury for Loftus-Cheek – when he should be back

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek underwent an MRI scan this morning on his groin and it ruled out a serious injury, we have learned.

According to the information we have from the club, the MRI scan that the midfielder underwent this morning did show a slight issue in the pubo-adductor region.

However, there is nothing serious and no further tests are scheduled. Instead, evolution of his condition will be monitored day by day.

According to what is being reported by Luca Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Loftus-Cheek will not be back for the game against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday.

In addition to that, he is ‘99%’ sure that the Englishman will not be risked against Genoa on Saturday at the Marassi. His situation will be monitored but it is certainly possible that he will return after the international break.

It is more positive news than it could have been, especially with games against Juventus, PSG and Napoli to come after the break.

  1. This pubo-adductor region is the site of what are known as sports hernias, and if they aren’t allowed to heal properly, can tear completely and become chronic serious injuries that require surgery and considerable recuperation time.
So, he’s not out of the woods yet.
