Official: Napoli vs. AC Milan starting XIs – Pioli hoping for third success in a row

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has chosen to stick with the same starting line-up that has already beaten Napoli twice this month for tonight’s Champions League quarter-final second leg.

All the reports leading up to the game suggested that Pioli would show loyalty to the XI that won 4-0 and 1-0 against Napoli, and he has done exactly that in a bid to secure a first semi-final berth for 16 years.

Mike Maignan is once again the starting goalkeeper again for Milan with Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez keeping their place in the defensive department from right to left.

The midfield double pivot will be Sandro Tonali and Rade Krunic on paper but with Ismael Bennacer also offering coverage from his positional as the central attacking midfielder.

Rafael Leao will be on the left wing and Brahim Diaz on the right, with the attack complete by Olivier Giroud who has shaken off Achilles discomfort to start tonight’s game at the Maradona.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Krunic, Tonali; Brahim Diaz, Bennacer, Leao; Giroud.

Bench: Mirante, Ballo-Touré, Rebic, Kalulu, Florenzi, Origi, Thiaw, Messias, Pobega, Gabbia, Saelemaekers, De Ketelaere.

Official Napoli XI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Juan Jesus, Mario Rui; Ndombelé, Lobotka, Zielinski; Politano, Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia.

Bench: Idasiak, Gollini, Elmas, Lozano, Olivra, Bereszynski, Ostigard, Gaetano, Raspadori.
