Official: Parma vs. AC Milan starting XIs – one change from Roma win

AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has picked his starting line-up for the game against Parma at the Stadio Tardini.

While waiting for the results of Napoli, Roma and Inter – who all play on Sunday – Milan have the chance to reclaim top spot in the table. However, it promises to be a tough game against a Parma side scrapping to stay out of the bottom three, with the Cremonese and Pisa games reminders of this.

The treatment room has almost emptied for Milan after spending the last few games in crisis. Christian Pulisic returned to full training during the week and is in the squad, so Adrien Rabiot and Santiago Gimenez are the only absences.

Allegri has named an unchanged three-man defence compared to the Roma game, with Koni De Winter keeping his spot as Fikayo Tomori isn’t yet fit enough to start. Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic complete the trio ahead of Mike Maignan.

Alexis Saelemaekers is at right wing-back and the big news is that Pervis Estupinan returns on the other side. They flank Youssouf Fofana, Luka Modric and Samuele Ricci who are the midfield trio.

Christopher Nkunku and Rafael Leao are the attacking duo, with Pulisic and potentially Ruben Loftus-Cheek able to come on during the game.

    1. Yeah if those results are a sign of what is in the pipeline then it might become a boring evening but on the paper we really should be able to bag this one and capitalize on Como’s and Juventus’ misfortunes.
      If I have to guess then I think a 2 or 3-1 victory for us isn’t too much to ask for.

  4. I think RLC deserves to start over Fofana.
    Also Bartesaghi has earned his place in the team, no harm he gets a break as he’s so young but I expect to see him start next round

    1. Yeh I think we’re all in agreement he’s garbage – it’d be another Emerson Royal masterpiece if we signed him…

  11. I’ve been saying for a while that They should let Leao kick all our close free kicks and penalties. I have no idea why it took this long to even get him to kick penalties.

  12. Last week I was sold on Bartesaghi being the real deal. Today Ricci is closing it for me. He is in the middle of everything.

    2. Yeah it seemed like he really didn’t give his all as he should have easily caught it before Bernabe as he was well in front of him. When that is said I have a hard time fathoming why the Spaniard with all due respect to Parma hasn’t yet moved on to a stronger club.
      Bring on Bartesaghi.

  15. We play one of the most ugly, slow games I’ve ever seen. Our players just keeps walking around the field like there’s no urgency. Smh

  16. Bartesaghi is not better than Estupinan. Is much, much better. Estupinan is an Emerson Royal on the left side. He’s so indolent…he doesn’t deserve to be first choice in front of Bartesaghi.

    1. What ! from my point of view isn’t that pretty self contradictory comparing him to a left sided Royal and then saying he is still better than Bartesaghi. Personally I have more confidence in the Italian, not that one match should be decisive in that regard but I still know Bart better and he gives me better confidence despite his age.

      1. If you read carefully what I wrote, you will see that I said that Bartesaghi is much better than Estupinan, who in my opinion is nothing more than another Emerson Royal.

          1. No problem. I think you’ve realized that I don’t have a good command of english, it’s not my native language and I make a lot of mistakes when I write. My english is approximate and I don’t always convey clearly what I mean.

  19. Nkunku is making good runs in the channels. He’s also been available in the build up and he and Rafa are applying the light pressure up the field.

    There have been a number of passes and crosses in his direction that have been caught out.

    Both he and Rafa look much more fit and much more focused

    Estupinan was owned on that goal. Complete facepalm

  25. Leao. Another anonymous performance against a small team. No room to run, no joy. One trick pony. Best one tricky pony in the world though, emirates?

  27. Jeez. Against the 17th placed team and we can’t even string two passes together. This is very embarrassing. I freaking hate Allegri ball. Relaxing after scoring one goal is insane to me.

  29. Our majority of players with few exceptions have big mentality problem. They shockingly suddenly relax in the middle of the game after we take the lead.

  32. This is embarrassing! No one is moving – Modric gets the ball and has no one to pass to because everyone is just standing. Defense completely fell apart in second half. Finally Estupinian is out – what a horrible game he had.

  33. Exactly. If you wanna win a league title, you must win all or almost all fanes with small and medium teams in the league. Big matches are not so important. Consistency is the key.
    I say…f##k the derbies. Let’s win all other games and lift the trophy.

  37. I just dont understand why Saelemaekers wouldn’t just keep going to the left around the keeper to take the shot with his better foot. I just don’t understand.

  39. Modric miss and Suzuki bobbles. Pulisic ends up in the back of the net.

    We’ve no other players who makes that effort every time.

Unbelievable…not only did we fail to win this match clearly after a first half that we completely controlled, but amid a stupid relaxation that denotes a total lack of professionalism on the part of some of the players and a superficial mentality, we managed to lose two points. Fantastic… once again against a weaker team than us, we behaved like children at play, not like men who have a clear objective and fight for it.
    It is clear that we cannot claim to win the title, even a ranking in one of the first 4 places at the end will be a very, very difficult mission for us with this mentality of losers…

    1. Blame the stupid coach for that, how can he wait for sooo long before replacing estupinian? Why remove Ricci for RLC, it should have been Fofana, Nkunku was bossed and pushed about, RLC should have been in to support Leak then and if you don’t value Tomori, see his replacement to know

    It think Salaemakers should be investigated for betting. Because I still don’t understand how he missed that goal opportunity.

  43. At halftime in the locker room, Allegri’s number one task was to keep the players motivated and warn them not to relax.
    Unbelievable…in this kind of games against teams like Parma, Pisa, Cremonese etcetera again and again and again , season after season after season…what a lack of responsibility and what a weak mentality these players have… with few exceptions I repeat… exceptions are Maignan, Pulisic, Modric.

  44. Allegri will have to figure out what to do with Nkuku. Gimenez has more impact on games than him. I hope he discovers form.

    I still recall that he was forced into Allegri’s team by Tare, from Allegri’s statement when Milan just bought him.

  45. It would be nice to hear the fans of Estupinian rant about how bartesaghi is being beaten on the flanks. Estupinian was basically an open door. He can’t cross, and was also poor in possession. Allegri waited too long to sub him out.
    Saelemakers is a futsal player after all. Those extra dribbles make it hard to take him as a serious player. That habit to do fancy stuff is akin to leao’s habit to stroll until he gets a chance he feels is “significant”. That hustle is why gimenez gets gane time, though he can’t shoot on goal. We are linked to the parma striker, pellegrino, and I see only a gimenez 2.0.
    The lethargy at the start of the second half and time wasting at only 55mins is not game management by Allegri, it’s stupidity. He is learning a bad trait

    De winter is not as confident on the ball as Tomori.

    Aside the penalty and the last minute back heel flick, leao had no impact IMO. We are waiting too long for his moments of “magic”.
    Modric was closed down, had less time to select a pass and our guys were not running into space. His passes had to be more intricate and we’re being intercepted.

    Pulisic should have come on earlier, except he was not fit enough. He also should have buried that chance.

    If we have played promoted teams and struggle then the fault also lies with the coach. He gave the useless instruction to go easy and relax after 2 goals. He indulged the B.S.

    f you are not playing well, I might as well as sub in a youngster for you out to prove a point. You either run, hustle and press or go to the bench. It has been mentioned that Milan allows opponents as much time as they need before we rake defensive action. We invite danger to out doorsteps.

    Parma could have been 3-2 up with minutes of the second half, and I didn’t see anyone ginger his mates, everyone was just listless.

    Allegri and his perception of danger is wack. We lack the killer instinct to finish off games.
