Official: Pioli names 21-man squad for Bologna game – multiple absences but Mirante is there

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has officially named his squad for the game against Bologna at the Stadio Renato dall’Ara tonight.

Mike Maignan and Alessandro Plizzari are out as both expected to miss another couple of months after undergoing surgery on their respective wrist and shoulder problems.

Theo Hernandez and Brahim Diaz missed the Hellas Verona and Porto games after testing positive for Covid-19 and they are still testing positive so won’t make the trip. Then, Alessandro Florenzi and Junior Messias should be out for a couple more weeks with knee and muscle problems respectively.

During his pre-match press conference, Pioli confirmed that Franck Kessiè will not be available either given he is suffering from a strong flu, while Ante Rebic’s ankle is still hurting and striker Pietro Pellegri has some inflammation that means he won’t be called up either.

Below are the 21 players that have been called up for the game in Bologna, as confirmed by the official website

Goalkeepers: Jungdal, Mirante, Tătărușanu.

Defenders: Ballo-Touré, Calabria, Conti, Gabbia, Kalulu, Kjær, Romagnoli, Tomori.

Midfielders: Bakayoko, Bennacer, Castillejo, Krunić, Saelemaekers, Tonali.

Forwards: Giroud, Ibrahimović, Leão, Maldini.

    1. This almost cost the game against Hellas.

Let them start, and ensure within 60 minutes they are 2 goals up.
Unless that, they should keep them on the pitch..
The league is still very tight.

  1. Milan 4-2-3-1 : Tatarusanu; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Ballo-Toure; Bennacer, Bakayoko; Saelemaekers, Tonali, Leao; Ibrahimovic. 🤔
