Official: Real Madrid and Liverpool among Milan’s Champions League opponents – full draw

AC Milan will be facing Real Madrid and Liverpool in the Champions League this season as well as six other teams with the 2024/25 group stage draw having been completed.

This is the first Champions League campaign since the group stage was revamped entirely, so Milan face eight different teams and are placed into a 36-team league table rather than a group of four.

Milan were placed in Pot 2 of the Champions League draw thanks to their second-placed finish in Serie A last season, as well as coefficient rankings.

Who will AC Milan face in the Champions League?

  • Real Madrid (A)
  • Liverpool (H)
  • Club Brugge (H)
  • Bayer Leverkusen (A)
  • Red Star Belgrade (H)
  • Dinamo Zagreb (A)
  • Girona (H)
  • Slovan Bratislava (A)

Milan have not been handed the easiest opponents from Pot 1 with reigning champions Real Madrid hosting the Rossoneri, whilst Liverpool will return to San Siro after visiting during the 2021-22 season.

Milan must travel to face Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen which will not be easy. Beyond those three games, Milan may be pleased with their opponents with relative minnows such as Slovan Bratislava, Dinamo Zagreb, Girona and Red Star Belgrade being drawn.

  1. We lose to Madrid Liverpool and Leverkusen. If Fonseca fixes this team in time, then we hopefully win the other five fixtures.

    1. 5 very winnable games, if we can get a draw out of the
other three (maybe Liverpool at San Siro) that would put us at 16 pts from 8 matches, should be enough for the top 8!!

    2. The other 5 fixtures are very easy, though Girona might be a bit dangerous. From the Italian teams Juve seem to have the highest chances to advance.

    1. I think it had more to do with Salary and Injuries. Chiesa makes as much as Leao and spent months injured.
To be fair, he’s the kind of player we usually get. 🙂 Plenty of talent but made of glass. (i.e. Pulisic, RLC). It’s a great gamble for liverpool though.

      1. My friend, we are trying to buy Tammy Abraham who has a similar injury history but 1/20th of the talent of Chiesa. Plus we are over the foreigners list for UEFA squad.

        1. They also play completely different positions. Sign Chiesa and play him as a striker? LW, so bench Leao? RW, so bench Pulisic? Come on.

          1. Of course you make a fair point, I’m not insinuating we play one of our AMs as striker. But given we seem happy to offload Saelamaekers it suggests we could have taken a chance on Chiesa but the main objection to him rediscovering previous sparkling form was his injury proneness. Was also a reason people gave for selling Kalulu to one of our bitter rivals.

That’s fine but we should be consistent, so when shopping for other positions eg striker, we should also rule out buying players who also have a similar injury record eg Abraham

      1. Obviously, assuming Milan get their sh!t together and players stop being lazy.
Milan plays vs. Liverpool at home. Doesn’t mean they will win, but they got way better chances than playing at Enfield.
Bayer Leverkusen had a miraculous season last year, but miracles don’t happen every year. It’s much better them than playing Arsenal or Atletico Madrid or playing Benfica in Lisbon.
Milan got a pretty good draw

  2. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. We got three teams that will give us trouble. The rest should be won.

  3. Acmilan please we need an attacking midfield who are our attacking midfield I hope is not Loftus cheek because our champions league is so difficult and we shouldn’t try the 4-3-3 because we are not used to it so Acmilan please let get things right so our 4-2-3-1 can be more effective

  4. I’m pleased with that. We get to test our mettle against probable favorites while facing enough teams that we should beat to get through. Now…let’s stable the ship so we don’t embarrass ourselves.

    1. It doesn’t really matter in which Pot you are. There’s random 2 clubs you will fight against from each anyway. Just a bit of luck I guess/hope.

    2. This new system gives a lot less advantage or disadvantage to what pot your own team is in. With everyone drawing 2 teams from each pot.
Whereas before you could not draw a team from your own pot.
So it’s not like before where pot 4 teams had big disadvantage.

  6. Great draw but It bothers me greatly that we will be meeting Slovan Bratislava on away soil as FC Midtjylland threw their win away yesterday against them so I will now miss out on an AC Milan match in Denmark.
Thanks FC Midtjylland you freaking amateures may you have an even worse sh1t season than after dropping out of cl 😀

On a sidenote we should keep an eye on Slovan Bratislavas player Marko Tolic that dude is dangerous with his long shots from outside the penalty area.

    1. Thats a bummer about Milan not playing in Denmark.
Europa league final was in Dublin a few months ago, was really banking on Milan getting there and maybe even playing Liverpool.
Anyway a trip to San Siro is always worth it!

      1. Yeah especially as they haven’t played in Denmark since 93/94 season if i remember correctly.
Yeah I do actually remember you voicing that wish last season but we really blew it there.
Sure but it would nevertheless have been nice had they played in Denmark because the venue is less than 100 km away which certainly would have made the logistics far easier 😀

  7. Leverkusen is very much beatable. I would not rate them higher than us, it will be a 50-50. We are several levels below Madrid and Liverpool. And the rest should be nothing but a win.

  8. I predict we beat Madrid 2-1, with a wonderful display of team work and Leao on full throttle, only to lose later to Bratislava by giving away two cheap goals.

  9. I think we’re done early with CL this season. Just focus at the serie A cause Fonseca could put Milan back at serie B.
