Official: Sassuolo vs. AC Milan starting XIs – Pioli makes defensive change

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has decided to make one change for Tuesday night’s game against Sassuolo following Saturday’s 5-1 win over Bologna.

The Rossoneri travel to the Mapei Stadium to face the Neroverdi in what is a battle between two sides who haven’t lost in a combined 16 matches in Serie A, with Sassuolo having won four of their last six and Milan six of their last eight.

Pioli has named almost the same defence, with Andrea Conti getting the nod at right-back to start alongside Simon Kjaer, Alessio Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez, protecting Gianluigi Donnarumma in his 200th appearance for the club.

Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer are the holding midfield duo with Alexis Saelemaekers wide right and Ante Rebic wide left, supporting Hakan Calhanoglu and Zlatan Ibrahimovic down the middle with the Turkey international in behind the Swede.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Conti, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Rebic; Ibrahimovic.

Sassuolo are without the suspended Gian Marco Ferrari, Pedro Obiang (groin strain) and Grégoire Defrel, who has been out with muscle problems.

Below is the XI which Roberto De Zerbi has chosen to field, which of course includes Milan Primavera graduate Manuel Locatelli.

Probable Sassuolo XI (4-3-3):Consigli; Marlon, Rogeiro, Muldur, Peluso, Raspadori, Haraslin, Locatelli, Bourabia, Berardi, Caputo.
