Official: Shamrock Rovers vs. Milan starting XIs – Ibrahimovic starts as Pioli names strong team

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has named what might be his strongest possible starting line-up for Thursday night’s game against Shamrock Rovers.

Pioli will not be able to call upon the injured trio of Alessio Romagnoli, Andrea Conti and Mateo Musacchio, while Rafael Leao is still in isolation after contracting Coronavirus and Ante Rebic is banned.

Nonetheless, the Rossoneri boss was still able to name a fairly strong team for Thursday’s Europa League second qualifying round game in Dublin, with Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal protected by Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia and Theo Hernandez from right to left.

Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer are the double pivot, with Samu Castillejo and Alexis Saelemaekers either side of Hakan Calhanoglu in the trident supporting Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Shamrock Rovers (3-5-2): Mannus; O’Brien, Lopes, Grace; Finn, McEneff, O’Neill, Byrne, Farrugia; Greene, Burke.

Milan (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Gabbia, Kjaer, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Bennacer; Castillejo, Calhanoglu, Saelemaekers; Ibrahimovic.
