Official: Milan vs. Spezia starting XIs – seven changes from cup win over Genoa

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has made a number of changes to his starting line-up to face Spezia this evening compared to the team that beat Genoa in the Coppa Italia last week.

Milan are missing a number of players again as Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer are both out with knee injuries, Alessio Romagnoli is not back as he has only just tested negative for Covid-19, Sandro Tonali is suspended while Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer are at AFCON.

It has been confirmed that Mike Maignan will be in goal with Alessandro Florenzi, Pierre Kalulu, Matteo Gabbia and Theo Hernandez the back four. Rade Krunic and Tiemoue Bakayoko are the midfield double pivot out of necessity given the absences.

Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao are expected in the attacking trident behind the centre-forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who would achieve an impressive feat with a goal.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Kalulu, Gabbia, Theo; Krunic, Bakayoko; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic.

Bench: Tatarusanu, Mirante, Calabria, CAstillejo, Giroud, Rebic, Maldini, Messiasi, Di Gezù, Stanga.

Official Spezia XI (4-4-1-1): Provedel; Amian, Erlic, Nikolaou, Rega; Kovalenko, Kiwior, Bastoni, Gyasi; Verde; Nzola.

Bench: Zoet, Zovko, Sala, Kovalenko, Hristov, Nzola, Ferrer, Antiste, Sher, Agudelo, Strelec, Bertola.
