Official: Suzanne Bakker announced as new Milan Women’s coach

AC Milan have announced that Suzanne Bakker is the new coach of the women’s team and has signed a two-year contract with the club.

As per the official statement shared by the club on Tuesday evening, the Dutch coach will take over from Davide Corti immediately and begin the preparations for the 2024/25 season.

Milan went into the previous season with Maurizio Ganz at the helm but after multiple disappointing years and a terrible start to the campaign, he was dismissed and Corti was promotedfrom the Primavera setup.

This did little to change the quality of the team but Bakker will hope to breathe fresh life into what is undoubtedly a talented squad.

Bakker’s most recent job has been as the coach of Ajax Women, whom she joined in the summer of 2022. Last season, she led Ajax into their first-ever UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign where they impressed by beating both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the group stage.

She won the league title in her first season and then achieved a second-placed finish last season whilst juggling the UWCl commitments. Based on her work at Ajax, the appointment is a wise one from the Rossonere.

The 38-year-old will look to ensure Milan finish in the top half of Serie A Femminile at the very least.
