Official: Torino vs. AC Milan starting XIs – four changes from Cagliari win

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has named his starting line-up for the game against Torino tonight, and there are a few changes from the team that beat Cagliari last weekend.

This could be Pioli’s penultimate match in charge of Milan and the team will be hoping to give the fans one final away performance to cheer this season, and to build on the 5-1 win from last Saturday night.

Marco Sportiello has been named in goal with the defensive department made up of Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Filippo Terracciano from right to left.

The midfield three is Yunus Musah, Tijjani Reijnders and Ismael Bennacer, while Christian Pulisic, Luka Jovic and Noah Okafor will make up the attacking trident in what looks like a 4-3-3.

Mike Maignan has been named on the bench but will not be risked from the start after an adductor injury. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has a hamstring issue and Theo Hernandez is out having battled flu symptoms during the week. In addition to those two absences, Matteo Gabbia is suspended.

Official Milan XI (4-3-3): Sportiello; Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori, Terracciano; Musah, Reijnders, Bennacer; Pulisic, Jovic, Okafor.

Bench: Maignan, Mirante; Bartesaghi, Calabria, Caldara, Florenzi; Adli, Pobega, Zeroli; Giroud, Leão.

Official Torino XI (3-4-1-2): Milinković-Savić; Tameze, Buongiorno, Masina; Bellanova, Linetty, Ilić, Rodríguez; Ricci; Pellegri, Zapata.

Bench: Gemello, Popa; Dellavalle, Djidji, Lovato, Savva, Sazonov; Ciammaglichella, Lazaro, Silva Pertinhes, Vojvoda; Kabić, Okereke, Sanabria.

  1. This is one of those games i think that our primavera boys get more minutes. Lets give our youngers more playing time in the big league in these 2 games. Wish terraciano good luck.

    1. The Primavera guys are playing for their lives, trying to qualify for the youth league playoffs while this game is worth nothing for the senior team, so why would we be weakening the Primavera team by calling up their main players to the senior team? It makes no sense whatsoever.

Sure, for the last game when the youth playoffs will be already defined, it would be nice to see the likes of Simic, but not today.

  2. There’s nothing that pleases you guys, you’ll just find a way to complain on everything… Despite starting 7 bench players, you’re still complaining?

  3. To anyone who thinks we a don’t need a CB – have a look at that goal… Tomori won’t make the Euros and he’s not good enough to be our main CB

    1. Gift and a curse. He’s still our best defender though but he’s not like Cannavaro where his jumping skills compensates for his height
I’ve been noticing that issue more and more recently. Aoart from that he’s pretty much stellar in all other areas

    2. Yes very good MERCATO last year – this year we only need a new CB, new RB, new DM, new Striker that’s like half of the team 😂

      1. I know, we just narrowly qualified for the CL this season. If only Juventus hadn’t cheated…Oh wait, that was last season.

  4. What position is Musah playing??? I have no clue and that’s the problem I hv with dude. He’s like a false 9 mezzala itbthat even makes sense lol 😂🤣🤣

  5. It’s Pioli playing with inverted full backs every time he plays 5 man defence and they have no idea what to do in this roles. That pushes Musah as RM so far up the field that he’s practically useless in that position. Pioli never learns and he just can’t play against 5 man defence

  6. bunch of jokers today. Cant even make simple passes that could be expected to be done by kids im tempted to turn off the match but guess im a bit of a masochist and will give more time and hope for a miracle.

  7. Waiting for those that will say Jovic and Terra are not good enough when our tactics is to keep passing the ball back to our goalie and have him play long balls. We have no creative ideas from our long ball specialist coach. I can’t wait to see the back of Pioli. We’re so stagnant and players walking around cos of Pioli’s style of play. Smdh

  8. Yup, this milan is hopeless. Conceded 2 goals and could not score even a goal.
Hope the second half will be better.

  9. Hope all of the ‘goals scored’ enthusiasts are looking at the goals conceded column which is now worse than last year..a very bad year for us in the league.

    1. im starting to think that the only thing that will save us is if the new coach implements electric dog collars for all of our players so they doesn’t slack off too much,
Kidding aside absolutely embarrassing first half.

      1. On the other hand, we have nothing to play for, so our players have already checked out; I wouldn’t be too upset at them for slacking off. Torino could still leapfrog Fiorentina for the Europa Conference League spot (although Fiorentina’s advantage makes it unlikely) so there is a difference in motivation.

Still, seeing our defenders look like headless chickens is not good.

        1. i get that torino has more to play for but there is absolutely no excuses for them to slack off in my view and quite frankly i would be yelling loudly at my team mates if they made some of those mistakes done today and milans players are at least professionals so i think its fair to expect that they show some pride in wearing our shirt.

Yeah some horrible mistakes done today.

  10. This shows how done Pioli is. His tactics are all wrong again, resulting in even more fragility for our already very fragile defense. But if the rumors are true and we go for either Fonseca or Van Bommel, it’s no upgrade over Pioli.

Fonseca is utterly mediocre; flopped badly with Roma, and how would the 3rd-placed French league team’s coach be an upgrade over the 2nd-placed Serie A guy? Our league is better than France’s… And Van Bommel is a Joe Nobody as a coach (great player but it doesn’t translate into being a great coach).

I hope the rumors are wrong and instead, it’s either Conceição or De Zerbi or Motta; either one would be a true upgrade over Pioli. We’d be going up with one of these, but going down if it’s Fonseca or Van Bommel.

Sure, Conceição is also from a league worse than Serie A and his team is also not doing so well domestically this season, but he made Porto overperform and punch above its weigh in Europe, repeatedly.

If we go for Fonseca or Van Bommel, it’s mind-boggling because they are both worse than Lopetegui… so if the name of Lopetegui generated such a big backlash from the fans, why aren’t the much more mediocre Fonseca and Van Bommel, (both with a CV much less impressive than Lopetegui’s) generating any protest? Go figure…

I’d like to see 10,000 signatures against hiring one of these two bums.

  11. Isma took this PK very well. And Puli is one of the few trying hard; earned the PK. Puli is such a professional! Other players seem to have checked out for the summer vacation already, but not Puli.

  12. People are losing their minds. Absolutely meaningless game. Zero. Coach is already gone, 2nd already secured. 2nd to last game of the season and ppl expecting us to be playing like it’s mid-December. LOL. Just let them finish the season, so we can get on with it.

    1. so let me ask you this vero dont you think its rather disrespectful if players shows up with an attitude that it doesnt matter even if we plays for nothing then still people travels and pays to watch them play. I certainly do.

    2. People are losing their minds because all games matter – inter don’t roll over because they have already won the league – and what do you mean ‘ get on with it? Get on with what?

  13. So he took Terracciano off who was working tirelessly but leaves Kalulu on who was nothing but error prone along with Thiaw and Tomori.

  14. Pioli should be fired tonight. Let Abate or Bonera manage the final game. What a terrible display, utterly pathetic.

  15. 2nd place secured, 1 more game to go and then the euros. National team players are probably playing with the euros in mind. Pioli has been a disaster the whole season, why would anyone think that things would change in the last 2 games. Some players are on vacation state of mind. Wake me up when milan announces our new coach. Lets hope our new coach is milan worthy.
