Official: Devis Vasquez completes move to Sheffield Wednesday on loan

By Isak Möller -

It had been known for quite some time, but now it’s official: Devis Vasquez has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan. The move was confirmed by AC Milan this afternoon.

Vasquez joined Milan back in January as a back-up goalkeeper and as a result, he made zero appearances for the first team and only two for the Primavera side. Therefore, a loan move was always on the cards for the 25-year-old.

On their official website, Milan have confirmed that the Colombian international has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan. Hopefully, he will get consistent playing time with the Championship side.

#AC Milan can confirm that Devis Vásquez has joined Sheffield Wednesday FC on loan, until 30 June 2024. The Club would like to wish Devis all the best for the coming season,” the statement read.

Milan signed Marco Sportiello at the start of the summer and Mike Maignan is obviously the first choice. Therefore, Vasquez was never going to get any playing time for the Rossoneri this season and a loan move makes perfect sense.

  1. I hope he has a good solid loan spell, we signed him for less than €1mn iirc so could sell him to a Championship club for a profit if he does well.
