Okafor says Milan must ‘raise the level’ after clutch moment: “It’s always nice to score”

Noah Okafor came in clutch for AC Milan this evening as he scored the 2-2 equaliser late in injury time, just ten minutes or so after he stepped onto the pitch. Afterwards, he was happy with the goal but stated that they could do a lot better.

It was indeed a tough game for the Rossoneri and after conceding two goals, the hope seemed to have completely vanished. However, a late debut goal for Alvaro Morata brought life back to the game and Okafor then stepped up with a great volley finish.

Milan showed fighting spirit and that’s important, but Okafor admitted after the game that they need to do a lot better moving forward. Below is what he told Sky Italia (via MilanNews)…

On the game…

“Every match is difficult. After the first half we should have done better, we managed to recover from a difficult situation. We wanted to win, we’ll take home this point and continue to work hard and think about the next one”.

Scoring under the Curva Sud…

“It’s always nice to score at home, under the fans. We know we can do better and raise the level.”

On the target this season…

“We have to train every day, take every step to try to do better and think about the next match. We are Milan and we know we have to do better.”

Parma are up next away from home and while they were just promoted, Milan cannot afford to underestimate their qualities. One would assume that the likes of Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders will be back to good condition then and thus start, as well as Morata.
