Okafor reflects on Sassuolo game and looks ahead to Roma: “I believe 100%”

By Oliver Fisher -

Noah Okafor has conceded that AC Milan were far from their best in the first half of their draw against Sassuolo, but believes there was evidence that a comeback is possible against Roma.

Milan’s five-game winning run in Serie A was ended by Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon, but they battled back from two different two-goal deficits to snatch a 3-3 draw.

Early goals from Andrea Pinamonti and Armand Lauriente had the Neroverdi in dreamland as they sought a win to boost their survival hopes, but Rafael Leao’s excellent solo goal got Milan back in it.

Lauriente scored again in the second half to restore the two-goal lead, then Luka Jovic and Okafor both scored to drag the Rossoneri back level. There were chances to win it too, but in the end a point would have to do.

Okafor spoke to DAZN after the game to try and reflect on what was an up and down afternoon, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

Your reaction to the game?

“We knew it wouldn’t be easy to play here, but then we found our game. We didn’t do well in the first half. We will analyse the matches to improve.”

What are your feelings about the second leg in Roma?

“We’re going to Rome to win: I believe 100% in my team-mates. Now we have to recover both mentally and physically.”

And then there’s the derby…

“Match by match, Roma first and then we’ll see.”

  1. I absolutely love how he takes his chances. Very limited game time and yet still really pushes sooo hard when he come on.
