Santiago Gimenez’s AC Milan exit is getting closer by the day and he could well be heading to Portugal very soon.
In the past few days, the Mexican has seemed increasingly likely to leave Milan, creating a stark difference compared to last summer. Indeed, he was offered a few exits 12 months ago, but he took no interest in them, preferring to stay at San Siro.

The signing of Goncalo Ramos and the return of Francesco Camarda, though, have moved him down the pecking order and he will now head elsewhere.
A deal with Porto has gotten gradually closer this week and the Mexican has already agreed terms. This is not all, though; the parties are also very near in their valuations, it seems.
Gimenez to Porto soon
Reporting in his segment on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, the journalist offered an update on Gimenez’s future, with an exit seemingly imminent, as MilanNews relayed.
“As soon as the deal between Porto and Roma for Rodrigo Mora is finally unblocked, I also expect the Portuguese to make decisive and final moves for Santiago Gimenez.
“The Mexican has a full agreement with Porto, and the negotiations between the two clubs need to be unblocked, but the Gimenez deal is effectively tied to that of Mora.”
But what if it isn’t unblocked? What is the plan? I did see this guys agent and Porto manager arguing publicly, so he is probably leaving…

Gimenez leaving is good news, but I hope Milan are not expecting Camarda to adequately deputize for Ramos. Milan needs another 9.
Would it be nice? Yes. Is it essential? I think there are other areas that need that investment more.
So question is, if you can only choose one of them to stay, which would you choose?
