Ordine clarifies why Man Utd pay less commission than Milan for Zirkzee: “For the player”

By Ben Dixon -

The Joshua Zirkzee debacle lasted far longer than what AC Milan would have liked, but after joining Manchester United, the Rossoneri have already found their own solution.

Whilst the mercato has been slow so far, there have been several interests that Milan have pursued, and they are currently zero for one, but that could change very shortly.

It was in the 11th hour when Zirkzee was taken from their grasp, but it could have happened several hours sooner after Bayern Munich entered the race, and Juventus attempted to make a move. Regardless of when the race was lost, they did not wait around after their decision, and a deal is all but officially done for Alvaro Morata.

There were two reasons why the Diavolo withdrew from the Zirkzee move, and that was due to the profile of striker requested by Fonseca, and the commission requested by Kia Joorabchian. However, Franco Ordine has speculated why the commission was so high when speaking on Telelombardia, and his comments have been relayed by Milan News.

“Milan adopted the supermarket criterion, with the amount they would have spent on Zirkzee they take two, Morata plus another. The Dutchman went to Manchester with a €45 million card, payment in three instalments: Kia gets €10m commission.

“How come Joorabchian gets €10m and previously demanded €15m? Because the salary Manchester gives Zirkzee is €1.5m more than the one agreed with Milan. So this makes it clear that in the famous 15 million asked by Kia, €5m was always intended for the player.”

  1. Water under the bridge at this point, but it is as I said from the beginning: the price is 55m, the allocation of which is irrelevant. It’s hard to imagine Furlani and Co. being so naive as to not comprehend this, so they probably decided 55m was too much for JZ, which is fair.

      1. 55m out of your pocket. Flush it down the toilet if you like. Doesn’t matter once it leaves Milan’s coffers where it goes.

          1. But the point of the article is that we could have paid zirkzee more in his salary and thus had the commissions lowered, which is what man utd did

        1. it kind of does because paying 15M€ comissions opens the door for even bigger comissions in the future, since agents will note that we can agree to pay those kind of comissions.
Furthemore, let’s say we paid Kia 15M€ and got Zirkzee, in 2 or 3 years we will once again have to deal with yet another big comissions when it’s time to renew to the player.

          1. I don’t find this argument convincing. Just because you do something once in a specific situation does not mean you will be forced into doing it in subsequent instances.

          2. It usually is like that . Not forced but expected to.

I mean if milan wants to throw 15M around like they just don’t care might as well send me some cash. 100k would be enough. I’ll print some papers so it’ll look like I worked for it

          3. That’s the job for the management isnt it. With that enormous commission we should get a deal for future renewal or something like that. You win some, we win some.

        2. Agreed. It’s money in or money out. Give it to the poor who cares doesn’t concern us. When you buy a house do you ask what the seller will do with the $$?? No if you want the house you pay it. If you don’t you go to the next one.

  2. morata is a poor mans zirkzee.

zirkzee was the best striker in serie a, morata would be lucky to get 5 goals.

morata is slow, weak and contributes nothing while zirkzee leads his teams to successful.

milan management i hope you fail hard

    1. You have no clue what you’re even talking about. Morata has played at the highest level for years, while Zirkzee played for Bologna. And they aren’t the same kind of striker. Morata contributed heavily to Spains success and also had multiple assists for both Spain and Atletico (last season).

      You don’t watch football.

      1. “morata is a poor mans zirkzee” 🤣🤣🤣

This is hands down one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read here….

    2. “Morata is a poor man’s Zirkzee”

      LOL, too funny.

Morata is the captain of Spain’s national team, you know, the European Champions. He is experienced, proven, played for a great team (Atlético Madrid), and is still young enough to have 3-4 good years in him.

Meanwhile, Zirkzee had ONE half-decent season with… Bologna!!! In which he scored fewer goals than the number Morata scored, the same season. And he is not even good enough to start in his national team, which is by the way not as good as Spain’s national team. As a matter of fact he wasn’t even called up for the Euro, initially; only made it after a better player got injured, and had minimum participation in minutes; did strictly nothing.

Sure, pal, sure. Morata is a poor man’s Zirkzee. LOL.

My prediction: Morata will do very well at Milan while Zirkzee will flop at Manchester United.

    3. You ought to be tested, you maybe having some trauma, and when you wish the management to fail hard you also wish Milan to fail nd then its the same wish also to the fans that as been supporting earnestly, so therefore I wish you fail woefully so you be able to come back here to type your stupid curse on Milan anymore, idiot. Nd how dare you call your dumb ass supermilanista.

  3. Like real estate agents, football agents should be taking their cut from whatever their clients (the players) get out of a deal. Why do clubs have to pay agents on top of transfer fees and players’ salaries? Incentives are messed up under this scheme.

  4. The player is not worth that much money at all. None proven and had only one decent season and was never that great a goal scorer. Good thing Milan didn’t spend 55 million on him. He will do worse in a more physical league.

    1. Thats what they always do overpay for player like antony, sancho, rasmus, maguire, onana . Their money are just like massive

      1. And then I discussed once with their fans, he said MU has limited budget, annoying, bla bla bla. While they overspent for any “promising” player, and bought 30 yo DM for total with bonus for 70 mil pounds (roughly 83 mil euro). They have just become a new Chelsea

  5. JZ salary 1,5m euro higher than ACM agree thats make MU pay more than 15m euro agent fee . 1,5m euro x 5 years = 7,5m euro

  6. So it indicates that both Kia and Zirkzee are after big money, not only Kia.
Regardless, it is also as if Kia wanna say “Hey, that 5 million is for the player, not totally for me, FGS!!!”.
Duuuhhh, still, 10 mil for you??? Bigger commission for you than to player who trains everyday, pose risk of injury. And that 10 mil is still 25% of registered transfer fee! For 1 season wonder (which is still arguable to be considered as “wonder”, more to “above average”).
Man, it makes me even more annoyed to that Kia dude.

  7. Guys when it comes to commission, you should speak with UEFA not agents. When there are no rules they can ask whatever they want.
If you think they are getting money easily, then go find a agent job and find best players.

Until there are clubs who will pay their demands we cannot stop them only UEFA can do something.

Zlatan moved many clubs just because his agent Raiola get commissions, now its funny he say these things.

No agent will ask big commission when there was no demand, where there was demand the price increases.

Morata is not a great striker, he can be in the team as experienced forward but we need a young striker who can take over kn 2years.
Camarda is very young for that.

Morata is still a temporary solution not a long term solution we are looking for since 2years.
