Stefano Pioli’s position at Milan is under scrutiny and the next few games will be decisive for him. As stated by the well-known journalist Franco Ordine, the manager could be sacked by the club next week.
Milan have claimed just two points in the last four league games and desperately need to bounce back with a win. Tomorrow evening, they will face Fiorentina at home and it’s one of Pioli’s final chances. Not the final one, though.
As stated by Franco Ordine, who was a guest on Tutti Convocati, the game against Borussia Dortmund will be decisive. A loss there would practically end the Round of 16 dreams, and that would be a huge blow financially. It would also be the final straw for Pioli.
“Pioli took responsibility for the injury, and also for getting Milan to the top in the first eight games with a full squad. Now he hasn’t won for four games. He got nervous when it was pointed out that these games will decide his future.
“I would set my sights on Tuesday night. It’s true that Fiorentina could push Milan out of the top four. However, the decisive deadline is Borussia Dortmund. If he doesn’t beat them, let’s prepare for a change of coach on Wednesday,” he stated.
The game against Fiorentina is scheduled for 20:45 tomorrow (Saturday) and the youngster Francesco Camarda will be called up. Given all the injuries and absences, it won’t be easy for the Rossoneri.

I am mixed on this one to be honest. I want us to move on from Pioli and get a manager who understands the modern game better (next season we will have more games). But is it really the right decision to sack Pioli in case we lose against Dortmund? Well if we had a better option lined up then why not. But right now after some Saudi club hired Gallardo the only option left for us will be Conte who I personally wouldn’t want to be our coach due to the obvious reasons. It would be better to stick with him till the end of the season.
Maybe Lazio will fire Sarri & we can get him then 😀

As ppl have mentioned Conte (who I think plays boring dinosaur football) is too expensive, RDZ is lured by PL money, I would have loved Gallardo but he’s just been taken off the market.
Who is the credible option that would be realistic we could hire and wouldn’t need a massive squad overhaul. Remember we aren’t moneybags Chelsea, the new coach would have to use the squad that we have which likely means sticking with 433.

Given that in actual fact Pioli is (checks notes), yep, CURRENTLY managing a top team in Europe (and has a Scudetto and semi-final of the champions league under his belt) does that not make him ‘modern’?
Or is ‘modern’ something that people have in their imaginations or maybe even what they do in computer games?
Because this is the issue the whole time with the approach to everything. The media and fans are constantly imagining some imaginary alternative where in their imaginations the imaginary manager with imaginary players somehow play magical imaginary football – and really how is reality to keep up with such fervent imaginations???
And it’s on this basis that the club will shortly fire Pioli having turned the imaginary into a not-so-great-reality by changing half the squad this summer.
And when Pioli is fired, you’re right we’ll end up with Conte. And then s*#t is going to get very REAL!
I don’t like writing full paragraphs, but I will try to explain this. What I mean is a full revamp of the squad, from new training coaches to technical staffs. It’s clear Pioli and his staff are doing something wrong in regard to player training. Let’s take some other team for example. Inter currently has 3–4 players injured compared to us who has 9 injuries excluding Benny. You can make an argument that we bought injury prone players, yes but Sportiello for example never had an injury before joining Milan, same with Mike.
Another thing to add here is regarding the Lecce and Napoli game. You can’t really blame losing 2 goal lead on the injuries. He should know how to set his team to manage the lead, we are so vulnerable against counter-attacks and so plays, you can’t let the opposition get so many goal scoring opportunities. Everything cannot be blamed on the players and management, the manager needs to be accountable for these blunders.
Anyway, I never said I want him to be fired before the season ends.
Injuries is a big issue and has been at Milan for over a decade.
I do agree with revamping the medical team and actually that should be the focus.
I fear it won’t and we’ll instead fire the manager and keep signing new players who get injured.
PS I’m not worried about inter. Inzaghi’s a choker! It’s Juve’s title, which will be annoying but not as annoying as Inter getting to 20.

I cannot defend this manager any more. His decisions this season have been bewildering. It’s fitting that he may go out with his final stand being starting Krunic against Dortmund. The sooner we can be rid of these two the better. Fire Pioli and then sell Krunic immediately. The team will be instantly improved.

Sarri has proven himself in 4 clubs in his career. Pioli has 2 good seasons to show for his career.. PPM is also much higer for Sarri. And his game has a specific attacking style..
And Conte. Sigh. Dude is 54 and you think his best is behind him? He had the balls to try and manage spurs tho i cant remeber a coach who actually did anything there. In the last 20 years at spurs, only 2 managers had higher PPM than Conte there. That was Villas Boas (who is free atm BTW) and Pochettino.
