Ordine states Milan are ‘out’ of the Champions League race after Atalanta defeat

Atalanta’s victory against AC Milan was the final straw for some fans and media personnel, and today, Franco Ordine has offered his view on the season with the Rossoneri trailing behind at present.

In a season where a Scudetto push looked heavily unlikely anyway, Friday night’s result in Bergamo has knocked the steam out of Milan for many, and even a Champions League place seems difficult to achieve, which is bad news for the head coach.

The Rossoneri reside in 7th, nine points away from the sides sitting among the European places, and it will take a lot for that gap to be lessened over the course of the season.

For this reason, Ordine believes that there is no chance that the Diavolo can still be considered as a team fighting for a Champions League spot, and when speaking to Pressing, he admitted this much alongside some other damning statements, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“Fonseca’s reaction in Bergamo is the confirmation that Milan have not only dropped out of the Scudetto fight but now also out of the race towards the Champions League, which is the only thing that can save his bench at the end of the season.

“He made this shot, I don’t know if it was agreed with the club, but talking with the directors it emerged that the club is on his side regarding the episode of Atalanta’s first goal.

“I, however, agree with Morata, Milan did not lose because of the referee, but because they continue to be immature, unreliable and indefensible. If you have these characteristics where do you want to go?’”

  1. Do any of these experts look at the remaining opponents? After round 19 will be less than 5 points from 4th. It’s the miserable first three rounds which we are suffering from. We improved since and we’ll catch up

  2. Lazio vs Inter this coming weekend.
Atalanta v Lazio on Dec 28th.
Juventus v Fiorentina on Dec 29th.
Napoli v Fiorentina on Jan 4th.
Atalanta v Napoli on Jan 19th.
Juventus v Napoli on Jan 26th.

If only Milan could sort itself out, they could make up points against our rivals who need to play each other in the next two months.

But alas it’s all copium. This Milan team suck balls.

  3. FFS, it’s not even Christmas and I am one of the most pessimistic one, but calm down on the TOP 4 judgement just yet. Scudetto’s dream is probably over, that’s fair, but top 4 (hopefully top 5) is not a closed chapter just yet. The race is tight, and possibly there will be a LOT of slipping up in between Christmas ’til the end. Just make sure we’re not the one doing that.

    1. In December there’s three Serie A matches. And all of them are winnable. Or actually “must win” matches. Against cr@ppy teams. The future will be decided this month. Fail to get at least 7 points and we’re out.
