SM: Origi fighting to save Milan career – summer sale possible with Ligue 1 side interested

By Oliver Fisher -

Divock Origi is playing for his AC Milan future between now and the end of the season given he has failed to convince so far since his summer arrival.

Origi has struggled since he joined on a free transfer after his contract at Liverpool expired and while Stefano Pioli continues to use him – mostly off the bench – concrete answers are expected from the Belgian between now and June.

The Belgian was supposed to work alongside Olivier Giroud and allow Pioli to rest the 36-year-old from time to time and even potentially start over him in time, but now he seems to even be behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the hierarchy who is 41 and has been out for nine months.

As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report, the period between now and the end of the season is ‘make or break’ for Origi and in the event that he fails to turn his fortunes around he would be put on the market.

Lyon are admirers of the former Lille striker, whose current value should be around €14-15m even despite the fact he arrived on a free and has not had the best of seasons.

  1. i might be wrong but i doubt teams in france (besides of psg) pays four mil a year to players. His sale value is highly unlikely more than 5mil if he cant pick up his game before the season ends so quite confident that we are stuck with him unless he accepts to rescind his contract or a promoted team in epl comes calling.

    1. Agree. We’re stuck with him.
That’s the problem with this type of unambitious player, once they get a good contract, they don’t really care any more.
Origi didn’t have a problem with being on the bench at Liverpool, and he won’t have a problem at Milan as well.

      1. Well thats propably a truth with modfications to call him unambitious because i can imagine that the player actually would love to prove himself as a starter compared to being a bench player in england but salary wise would he give up a 4 mil contract to prove himself somewhere else and especially in france where they at least to my understanding doesnt pay too high wages, i doubt it.
He could be a value to the team but hasnt really shown much besides of his long shot goal. Where i live most people are either liverpool or man utd fans and next to none are ac milan fans and the liverpool fans i know actually loved him and some was really sorry to see him leave.
Anyways we wll propably be stuck with him for at least 1 season more.

  2. Price value is pure speculation. If one team sees potential, they can buy him, but for some agreed price. Good news for Milan is Origi salary, even if he moves for let’s say 5 million…
Than club must find some kind of replacement because Origi is our biggest transfers fail.

  3. Contract usually priced bases on the salary and how many years left of the contract itself

If we sign origi for 4 years 4 mills, next year he will be worth 12 mills. But since he plays like sh××, so we have deflation to the price which is vary from 80 persen drop to 30 percent drop, safe to say origi now worth 3mills to 8 mills

  4. Time to sell this guy. He got plenty of chances in front of the goal and he can’t scores.

10-15 million will be a profit considering Milan got him for free.

  5. Even for free we need to let him go, to get him off the books, just like Liverpool did. They’re probably still laughing at Maldini to this day. The problem is that Origi won’t take a pay cut so we’re stuck with him.

  6. Don’t get your hopes up. NO ONE will pay him the money Milan are paying him so we’re stuck with him until he walks away for free.

  7. Lesson? do not sign a player coming off a long term injured or who is injured at the time the season starts! whoever gave the advice that the injury was not serious was a joker himself. he is NOT IBRA.

  8. I don’t think we should sell him… its his first season in Serie A and so does CDK…
Not every player settle quickly , let’s wait and see and if he doesn’t perform, we still have time to sell
