Report: Liverpool forward has rejected Newcastle’s higher offer – his heart is set on Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan appear to have won the race to sign Divock Origi from Liverpool despite a late attempt from Newcastle, according to one journalist.

According to a report from Matteo Moretto, Newcastle United made an attempt to sign Origi but the Belgian has already made his decision to join the Rossoneri once his contract with Liverpool expires.

The Magpies made him a better offer than what Milan put on the table but Origi remains firm on his position and has not changed his mind, with the project that the club have put forward and the likelihood of Champions League football clearly being decisive.

Now, the 26-year-old forward is waiting for everything to be defined with Milan as contacts involving his entourage continue. The Rossoneri, therefore, seem to be on course to secure their first attacking reinforcement ahead of the summer transfer window, bolstering the centre-forward department given the ageing Ibrahimovic and Giroud are the two current options.
