Debate continues to rage on about whether Daniele Orsato got some key calls right during AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Napoli last night.
Milan had appeals for a penalty waved away by Orsato after Ismael Bennacer went down under a challenge from Kalidou Koulibaly after five minutes, ultimately resulting in a booking for Stefano Pioli. Then, Osimhen thought he had been fouled by Fikayo Tomori at the other end but neither were given.
MilanLive have compiled the assessments of the various newspapers in the aftermath of the game, starting with La Gazzetta dello Sport who gave the referee a 6 out of 10 rating, stating that there were doubts about the two penalty shouts, but he managed the game expertly.
Il Corriere dello Sport gave him a 5 and said that the Tomori-Osimhen challenge should have been a penalty, while there was a different situation involving Bennacer and Koulibaly that happened earlier.
Tuttosport also gave Orsato a 5 and questioned his decision to give Giroud a ‘sensational’ yellow card a few minutes before the break, and also talks about Koulibaly’s previous challenge on the Frenchman that gave him a bit cut on his angle, suggesting there was a lot of force.
