Osimhen says he expects to be back for the first leg against Milan

By Isak Möller -

Victor Osimhen sustained an injury while on international duty and the first reports suggested that he was at risk for the first leg against Milan. However, the striker himself is convinced that he will be back then.

The Nigerian striker has scored 21 goals in the league this season and is obviously a key player for Napoli. It’s a blow for the Partenopei to not have him available for tonight’s clash, and especially if he were to miss the first leg as well.

De Laurentiis first said two weeks, which would rule him out, but Osimhen believes he can cut the recovery time short. He stated this in an interview with TG5 (via MilanNews), hoping that he will only need 10-12 days.

“It’s nothing serious, but I want to take these 10-12 days off to recover fully. I have made sure and convinced myself that I will be there against Milan in the Champions League,” he stated.

In tonight’s clash, Giovanni Simeone will be the starting striker for Napoli and he’s certainly not a bad backup. He scored the winner against Milan in the reverse fixture and will be eager to prove himself tonight.
