Paqueta opens up about ‘painful’ Milan exit but assures there are no hard feelings

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara did wonders during the mercato this summer, making a profit despite bringing in several players. Lucas Paqueta was one of the players that left Milan, sold to Lyon for a good fee.

Paqueta joined the Rossoneri in January 2019 and initially did well for the club. However, as Gennaro Gattuso was sacked, the Brazilian struggled to find his place in the team and was eventually sold this summer.

Somehow, the Milan directors managed to avoid a capital loss on the player, getting a good deal with Lyon. In an interview with the newspaper L’Equipe, as cited by MilanNews.it, Paqueta opened up about the decision to leave Italy this summer.

“There is no desire for revenge today, and I’m even grateful for this step, although it may have been painful. It is part of life. Now I want my good football back. My Brazilian football, the happy one. And here I feel the energy to do it,” he said.

The 23-year-old certainly has the potential to become a good player, but sadly it just didn’t work out for him at Milan. Hopefully, he will live up to his potential with the French side, as the Rossoneri are entitled to a % of a future resale.
