AC Milan are expected to sign another central midfielder in the summer transfer window, and Samuele Ricci’s name remains at the top of their list.
According to Calciomercato.com, one of the points on which Fabio Paratici and Milan converge is the need for a ‘much more Italian Milan’, and he is now on the verge of being named as the new sporting director.
Why the need for a new homegrown identity? It is both because of the squad list requirements but also to create a certain identity. From this, the name written at the top of the list of summer targets is Ricci.
For several months, Milan have been moving forward in the race for the 23-year-old midfielder from Torino. The news is that Paratici also approves of the potential move and can leverage the excellent relationships with his agents to try finalise an agreement on salary and duration of the contract.
On the other hand, Milan know that they must hurry on Samuele Ricci to get ahead of the competition from Napoli and Inter. Ricci is the No.1 target therefore, but not at any cost because they do not want to pay above €25-30m.
Torino meanwhile are hoping for an auction that could raise the price to €40m. It is too early to understand if president Urbano Cairo will be satisfied, but Paratici’s Milan are interested in Samuele Ricci.
Great. Start with some Italian defenders. Get rid of Tomori and Pavlovic.
Calafiori, Cambiasso and Boungiorno are likely unavailable. I can’t think of anyone else that would be a huge improvement.
Much more like it. It’s the Italian way. Bring back the identity. Too many French past and present.
Not buying Calafiori from Bologna n Bou from Torino n Motta/Conte (as coach) was the main reason for this season failure
Why buy Italians if they aren’t good? It’s not AC Milan’s responsibility to have an Italian team when they cannot qualify for World Cups or get knocked out of European competition all the time. Which Italian CBs should they buy? Acerbi/Bastoni/DiMarco are not leaving Inter. Cambiasso/Gatti are not leaving Juventus. You’ve watched Donnarumma, Tonali, Maldini, El Shaarawy, Darmian, Cristante, Locatelli, Bellanova, and Brescianni all walk out the door.
Management needs to recognize the players they have and start allowing younger players the opportunity to play and show them a path to make it here.
Italian are certainly better than wherever sh*thole you came from.
What does the Italian NT have to do with individual players? Weren’t England trash at the national level for nearly 20 years despite having world class players? Same thing is happening with Brazil now. Sometimes it just doesn’t come together in the national team.
Exactly, plus people seem to forget there’s literally a squad list quota for UEFA competition (if we even qualify lololol) so at least let’s fulfil those 8 places before we start discussing how foreigners are better than homegrown players.
Did you watched last game against Napoli? Didn’t you see what Bungiorno did to us? We could have had him instead of bunch of average CB’s.
With the money spent on Pavlovic & EMERSONFCKINGROYAL we could have had Buongiorno. Just sayin’…
The Italian national team missed the World Cup precisely because clubs like Milan and other clubs forget about their young Italians and don’t develop the talent. Think before you type.
Yess bro. Milan have a good youth team same as Atalanta. The difference is Atalanta give them some chance to develop in the first team. Player like bartesaghi should have more game play to develop. Milan no need more cash out if they see the talents from the youth team.
Milan primavera should level up to first team players. I think they have good enough and have the talent . Milan should give a chance and some patiently. Bellanova, locatelli, Maldini, darmian. They are have the talent.
Agreed.. i am for more italian if its really an upgrade….and cost efficient to an extend at least
There were Italians available for reasonable sum which I specifically mentioned many times here before they moved on and are now worth at least double their last pricetag – Retegui, Buongiorno, Casadei, Ricci.
Experienced ones I mentioned and were available for reasonable sum and free – Di Lorenzo, Spinazzola.
Now these clowns are here scratching their empty heads on these missed opportunities, embarrassing themselves by asking after them.
Next up are Prati, Fabbian, Coppola, Comuzzo, Mattia Zanotti.
Foreign ones in Serie A – Frendrup, Bernabe, Da Cunha, Paz, Assane Diao
Ricci never be Milan no. 1 target. He’s price out of Milan world bro. The American wouldn’t buy some midfielder for 30m up. Beside that Milan already buy bondo. No need more ricci. Milan should start to fix defence issue. Buy some 2/3 Italian defenders. The defence should have 1 gesture language. That’s Italian.
