MP: Paratici and Sarri could lead new era at Milan from the summer – the situation

AC Milan are likely to hire a new sporting director at the end of the season, and Fabio Paratici’s name is one that the leadership are reportedly considering.

MilanPress reports that the winter transfer window – which saw five players arrive and six leave – was a sign that the summer mercato was littered with mistakes and that is why there could be a ‘revolution’ even at the managerial level.

As we also reported yesterday, a new sporting director should arrive after Antonio D’Ottavio’s departure late last year. The report claims that Paratici is one of the candidates to replace Geoffrey Moncada starting from July 2025, which is when his suspension ends after the capital gains case.

After some rumours from other sources, MilanPress claim that they have confirmations regarding the candidacy of Paratici. He may look to make big changes too, with Sergio Conceicao not sure of remaining as head coach given the break clause in his deal.

Paratici may wish to make his own hire and that is why Maurizio Sarri – who was hired by Juve in 2019 and has been linked several times since – could come back into fashion. The Italian coach is believed to be a profile who can get more out of the squad.

  1. Paratici? Really? No law abiding SD’s are available?

Sarri is an interesting option but his system takes a minute to get used to. Honestly, I am not ready to pull the plug on Conceicao without giving him a proper season to work with.

Also the prospect of a 4th coach in one year isn’t exactly thrilling.

    1. I totally agree.
First of all, I think Milan play better under Conceicao, they take control of the match and create chances, it is just the final touch that is lacking (which is more due to the lack of football IQ and too much of an ego from the players), and out of the matches where Milan lost or played badly, probably 90% of it was because of individual errors rather than a bad strategy from the coach.
And second, Paratici and Sarri don’t excite me, it will be more like a short-term fix rather than a long one.

Milan’s problem is more due to a psychological issue, I don’t think Guardiola even can save us, we need a psychiatrist, a shaman, and a leader figure both in the management (REHIRE MALDINI) and in the squad.

  2. Milan should stick with Conceição. Sarri football is useless and his team always have a weak mentality to me. He only won the serie A with Juventus because there was no team good enough to compete with a star studded squad at Juventus.

  3. “The Italian coach is believed to be a profile who can get more out of the squad“… How?? Mindless decision-making going on behind the scenes if they’re thinking about sacking Conceicao already for this grumpy commie…

    1. The reports says “may”, they’re making things up. They’re not likely to go with Sarri, they’ll want an up and coming coach. If they’re smart, they’ll go with Iraola.

  4. Let’s be completely honest. You say Morata a failure? And who was the first option? Wasn’t it Zirkze, whom we were all waiting for and hoping would come. Should it have cost 40 million? Is Pavlović worth 18 million? Fofana for 20 million? We can talk about Emerson, but he cost 15 million. Now we are talking about Fonseca, and after the tour in the USA what was written? The season is not over yet, and the whole team is already collapsing. A strong story.

  5. You guys don’t understand what is being reported if you think that stories which do not prove to be correct are the result of ‘lies’.

Journalists do not report outcomes as objective facts – if you actually think about it, they can’t possibly be doing this prior to the club’s press release announcing the deal. In almost any coaching appointment there are at least 4 parties whose positions need to be confirmed before a deal is concluded: the coach, his manager, management level of the club and board level/ownership. Add another 2 to this story because it is coach and DS. By the time all of these parties are in agreement you’ve got an official press release from a club.

The journalists report information leaked by sources with enough credibility to warrant the reporting. Even Romano doesn’t ‘make it up’ entirely. He makes up part of the story for the agent.

Paratici and Sarri now appear to have come from a few different sources. That means 3 to 4 of those who need to sign off currently consider these signings to be an option.

What more do you think a journalist can do at the current time? Milan has 12 or 13 games left in a season and has just spent significant money in winter to give the current coach something close to what he wants.

My take on it is that Sarri is fine, albeit 12 moths too late and possibly even at a point that the existing project he was suited to has collapsed.

Paratici is awful. If he gets it wrong, in a way characteristic of his career Milan will be mired in another banter era.

  6. Even if Milan hired Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Gurdiola as coach and assistant coach, Milan can never make progress with these worthless management and owners.
