One of the first signings that Massimiliano Allegri has told AC Milan he would like is a new centre-back, more specifically Giovanni Leoni.

There could be big changes at the back for Milan this summer. Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez have all been strongly linked with exits already and this has led to suggestions that Allegri will have to basically fully rebuild the defensive department.

Leoni in strong demand

According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), everyone is crazy about Giovanni Leoni. The Parma centre-back has performed very well in his first season in Serie A, taking centre stage at the age of 18, especially since Chivu – who played the same position – became their head coach.

Leoni’s name ended up in the notebooks of the biggest Italian teams. Milan are the latest to join the race, but the Rossoneri are simply adding to other suitors already present such as their rivals Inter and the reigning champions Napoli.

Parma currently value him at around €15m, but are confident that an auction will be triggered, which could increase the price quite a bit. The Emilian club would like to keep Leoni for at least another year, thus making him follow a path that mirrors that of Alessandro Bastoni at the beginning of his career.

It remains to be seen which of the three interested Serie A big clubs is willing to take him and leave him on loan for a year with the Gialloblu.

  1. Get him. He’s a good boy, get him, pay the €15-20m and don’t waste money on a 40 year old Modric

    1. bro Fabri stop embarrassing yourself even worse… you don’t know j*ck $hit about football if you actually believe that

Modric is a free agent so the books will be fine and even if we pay 4M, to have a low cost sub for Puli that can give him that final nudge into stardom…

It’s the easiest deal to agree to
