Pavlovic insists Milan’s only problem is ‘mental’ and not tactical: “We have to win”

Strahinja Pavlovic spoke to the media ahead of tonight’s clash between AC Milan and Lecce, admitting that the first-half struggles have to be eliminated as soon as possible.

Pavlovic has been a key player in Ruben Amorim’s three-man backline, always getting the chance from start. It might have something to do with the fact that he’s the only left-footed centre-back, excluding Sankhoun Diawara, but he has also played well in a majority of the games so far.

Speaking to DAZN just a few minutes ago, as transcribed by MilanNews, Pavlovic shared his thoughts on the league standings and the defence under Amorim’s guidance. He made it clear that their issues are more psychological, as opposed to the tactics being weak.

What memories do you have of San Siro?

“I remember the first time I played here, and I was very happy. We have to win tonight.”

On the standings…

“It’s still early in the season. The most important thing is to stay calm. We need to focus only on ourselves and work harder. Tonight is another opportunity to get back to winning ways.”

On Amorim’s defence..

“I’m happy we are playing with a solid line. We only have one problem for me: we had a lot of issues in the first half, and for me it’s a mental thing. We have to start this evening with full focus and we have to win.”

Mario Gila is back from start in the backline for this one, which should help, but it remains to be seen if Milan can step up in the first 45 minutes. Still, they should be able to come away with all three points in front of their home fans.
