The AC Milan management are working hard on making moves to improve the squad in January, and two exits could help launch a bid for Santiago Gimenez.
As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, the departures – or rather the departure formula – will determine the moves that Milan can make. Kyle Walker’s arrival is almost complete, so the priority now is to shore up the attack.
Priorities and alternatives
The first option is Gimenez of Feyenoord, if the permanent sale of Pavlovic were to materialise. The Rossoneri already wanted the Mexican striker last summer before turning to Abraham, and they are trying again.
The Dutch club do not want to sell mid-season and want €40m. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada have received the green light from the player (who has an EU passport) because he wants to compete in Serie A to grow.
The negotiation is not easy, but the directors intend to try with great conviction if they sell the Serbian defender, for a written offer has arrived from Turkey. If there is no money to invest, a reinforcement for the attack will have to arrive on loan.
The main option remains Joao Felix in this sense and it could happen in the last few days of the window with the help of Jorge Mendes. However, the Blues need to still have a free slot for a loan abroad.
Alternatively, watch out for what happens in Manchester because United must respect the rules of Financial Fair Play. They are working towards a big sale (Garnacho and Casemiro candidates) to then try sign a striker like Gyokeres or Cunha.
Their arrival would free up Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee to potentially depart in the closing stages of the window, with a loan for the former something that the Diavolo are keeping in mind.

Emerson and Pavlovic
Emerson Royal is being courted by Galatasaray, having arrived just a few months ago from Spurs for €15m. The right-back has not closed the door on a transfer to Turkey, but the formula of a loan with option to buy must be worked on.
Fulham have also asked for information, but for a permanent deal. The problem? They have put a figure on the table (around €10m) that would force Milan to make a capital loss on the balance sheet. The Brazilian, who will lose his starting spot to Walker, is seriously considering a transfer to Istanbul.
The situation is different for Pavlovic who, despite having been barely used since October, still has requests. Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have sent Milan an offer of around €20m plus bonuses. It remains to be seen whether the Serbian will say yes, because an English and German team are keen.
An auction would not displease Milan who – after Fikayo Tomori said no to Juventus – will hold on to the Englishman. Pavlovic’s future, as mentioned, is linked to the assault on Santiago Gimenez or the need to hunt for a striker on loan.
Also worth noting is Real Betis’ interest in Samuel Chukwueze, but the proposal formulated to Milan by the Spaniards (loan) is far from the Rossoneri’s requests.
It doesn’t make any sense to sell a center-back without bringing in a replacement. We already have too many players in attack that we unfortunately can’t offload, like Abraham, Jovic or Okafor. Getting rid of Emerson would obviously make sense because of Walker, but if Amazon and Pavlovic are really sold after just half a year, there must absolutely be consequences for management. That said, I would still take the striker from Feyenoord without hesitation.
I mean sure, maybe Walker play CB too.
Walker can play anywhere. He will also be our answer at striker. Walker is the saviour of ̶R̶o̶m̶e̶ Milan!
Absolutely. The weakness is in the back. Particularly in backs that can’t stay in their position. Mediocre backs that can’t play forward not only foul up the attack but leave gaping holes in the back door. Just watch the films. Where was the right back?
In Pavlovic, you have not only ability but a solid defensive mindset. Play him there. Also, why is Pulisic not taking the corner kicks from left side? How many times did he put it right on a tall defender’s head for a score? One of them was Pavlovic!
There could have a primary squad firstly next to an adequate one lune ups
Silly rumours. Gimenez isnt leaving mid season. In fact no top CF is available mid season. Its also unlikely and unfair to sell pavlovic after 6 months. With Thiaw injured and Tomori not convincing his getting a second chance. He deserves patience as he has potential.
We’ll all be super happy if Emerson goes. What a waste of a transfer. In hindsight we should of just stuck with Calabria. Hopefully walker can provide better assurance.
“Hopefully walker can provide better assurance.”
LOL. Fear not, Walker is NOTHING like the Brazilian trashcan.
It does have sense to sell Pavlovic and Emerson Royal, if Walker is arriving.
Why not invest in striker?
Morata is guy for the bench, Abraham is not for Milan. He can stay until end of this season as a third option.
Jovic should already found his new home..
In next season there is potential selling Okafor, Chukwueze, Ruben Loftus, releasing Abraham, Florenzi, Calabria,.
And bring 2 or 3 strong names. It’s better quality over quantity
Trying to offload summer mistakes six months later. I have never seen such a thing in my life.
They wouldn’t be able to sign any of these players anyway, but imagine if Maldini was in charge. What would Gerry’s lapdogs would say?
Meanwhile, get ready because another Abraham or two incoming on loan by the end of the window.
I dont understand why Jovic is not playing. sure he hasnt lived up to the hype but he is more clinical and definitely a better poacher than Tami or Morata who has been huge disappointing. As a senior player his done nothing..
I like Pavlovic, he is rough and still raw but he has potential and age on his side. I would keep faith in him atleast until end of year. Emerson i have no faith or patience, he should be sold right away.
Honestly, the leadership team needs to be held responsible, sure firing a coach is easy but these guys are even more to blame for our mess than Fonseca!
Yes because Maldini never made any bad signings. Clown.
Still defending this management and been opposed to change I see.
Nothing new here with you.
Your hilarious kid.
After we just learned we are basically trying to sell almost ALL of our summer signings and those from the previous – ALL for losses when you factor in wages and TRANSFER FEES (Emerson, Pavlovic, Okafor, Pelligrino, Chukuweze, Jovic, Tammy, etc….) and you STLL can only bring up Maldini???🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOLOLOLOLOLO. What an A$$ 🤡
Every director in the history of football has made bad signings. The overall balance of one’s work is the end result and the end result of Maldini with a fraction of this budget was Scudetto. So far we’re 8th after heavy investments and a lot of confidence from clowns like you.
So it’s actually quite clear who the clown is. Try a mirror to see one, idiot.
This is the good side of our loss to Juventus. If they can sell Emerson and Pavlovic, to raise the funds to tempt Feyenoord to sell Gimenez, that would be something. I like Joao Felix, but, like Rashford, he plays mostly from the left side. He is not the center forward we need. Also, I don’t know how strong he is to play/cope in serie a. So, if Chelsea keep insisting on an outright purchase, it’s best to leave him. Thank God we didn’t make that mistake with Abraham. With the way things are going, things are going to change b4 the end of the transfer window. Positive, I believe. Thanks Juve, for the defeat.
You just can’t do a squad revolution in January.
I would be astounded if Emerson and Pavlovic left after just 6 months. Whomever was advocating for their recruitment would have to leave too.
Would be nice. But I can’t see it happening.
As an aside. I wouldn’t be giving up on Pavlovic yet.
Whats worse is they sold Kalulu and Simic to bring them in. 2 players with immense talent and well integrated in the club
1st we had an excellent midfield, they tore it apart
2nd we had a solid defensive roster, they tore that apart
3rd they still refuse to purchase the striker we have needed for years
I absolutely agree. For me it is very hard to see any logical pattern in AC Milan team building.
Summary of Milan right now 😫
How did we get here? Banter era lurking again😞
How many days to go in this January window yet you guys still believe in this every season game plan since 2020?
Those FFP rules are for sure the biggest lie and the most disgusting display of hypocrisy on nowadays football.
No, they are not. They prevent clubs from bankruptcy.
TBH I’d rather sell Tomori than Pavlovic. We’ve seen the best and the worst of Tomori and Pavlovic will probably turn into a far better and complete CB than Tomori ever will.
Tammy – 2 goals in 16
Colombo – 4 goals in 19……should we just bring Colombo home ?? Better stats than Tammy, homegrown, don’t have to spend any money, lots of serie A experience, give the boy a chance.
Better still Lorenzo Lucca – 7 goals in 19, serie A experienced, cheap, Italian so good for squad lists ???
Why are we persisting with the foreign market ???
We won’t buy Lucca. They’re doing the same with him as with Retegui. Too afraid to buy when cheap and all of a sudden it’s too late to buy as they cost too much.
The biggest irony is that he might also end up at Atalanta…
Pavlovic should not be sold at all. Tomori has been a walking nightmare at the back for 2 years now, and would easily get 30mil form an overpaying English team in the summer. Pavlovic has potential to be a beast if he’s coached right, but our brain dead owners will sell him and keep the walking headache that is tomori around just to cost us more goals…
Santiago Castro, 25M. Get him now before Inter does. I bet, Inter will sell Lautaro in the summer of 2026 for like 80M and will replace him with Castro for like 30M. It will be plug and play for them.
