If AC Milan do not get into the 2026-27 edition of the Champions League, it will have negative impacts on their future planning.
It goes without saying that a top four spot is huge for any Italian club, but it is particularly true for Milan after a season without playing in any European competition. The Rossoneri must win their final two games to keep their fate in their own hands, though that is easier said than done.

No UCL = a big sale
As we read in today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPress), if Milan were to fail to get into the Champions League, there would most likely be at least one high-profile sale to make ends meet and plug the gap in the accounts.
Last year it was Tijjani Reijnders, Malick Thiaw and Theo Hernandez who departed to bring money in. This year the leading candidate is Strahinja Pavlovic, with Manchester United ready to offer €50m if the Rossoneri decide to sell the Serbian.
As a reminder, it has been projected that Milan will surpass €100m in capital gains for 2025-26 (€101.8m). This will break a record that had stood since the 2001-02 season, when the Rossoneri recorded capital gains of €78m
The other big problem would be in the incoming market. With less money available – even with a major exit – and less sporting appeal, targets like Leon Goretzka would not arrive. Not only that, but Luka Modric is also unlikely to stay.

Modric might return to Real Madrid whatever happens. There is a rumour Mourinho wants him back as his “right hand” inside the team and he can retire there. Mourinho was the one that brought him to Real and trusted him when he was “the worst signing” they ever made.
I do not believe that we need to sell players to generate capital when we sell out every game and have the highest gate receipts in all of Serie A. That is enough money to cover all player and coach salaries, never mind tv contracts, merch sales and the hundreds of sponsorship deals we have. We don’t need to sell anyone.
Do you also believe the world is flat?
Selling Leao is enough. No need to sacrifice the only player with the correct attitude (Pavlovic) or the only useful attacking player (Pulisic).
100%. Particularly if we stick to 3-5-2 and given that Leao’s contract is up in 2028 and it’s highly unlikely we’ll be able to meet his increased demands. Selling Pavlovic instead of Leao would be the nail in the coffin for management as it would make zero sense. That is, of course, unless nobody wants Leao at even 50M, which given how he’s played over the last couple of seasons is a distinct possibility.
Sell, Leao, Nkunku, Estupinan, Fofana, Musah and Saelemaekers, and that’s like 165M right there. Buy a proper striker (50M), a support striker (30M), a good DM (30M), a good RWB (30M), Gila (25m) and sign Zappacosta on a free. 165M, all money from sales. Done.
No one is buying Musah though.
Milan has a history of selling its stars and replacing
them with rejects from other clubs. Management is not interested in Trophies, just $$$$$.
The only reason they are in business is to obtain
Champions league $$$
Once the fans come to accept this fact, the fans will be a lot happier.
Slask artikel som vanligt. Finns inga planer i Milan.
Nkunku + Gimenez + Estu = 50m++
worst Leao still better than them,
keep Pav, he’s the only1 left footed CB we’ve & we need 1 more
