Pedulla: Bennacer ‘intent on continuing career elsewhere’ – Saudi clubs get green light

By Oliver Fisher -

Ismael Bennacer has now fully opened up to the idea of moving to Saudi Arabia and AC Milan are awaiting developments, according to a report.

Alfredo Pedulla has provided an update on his website in which he claims that Bennacer has given the green light to the idea of moving to the Saudi Pro League. There have been a couple of meetings and also a couple of expressions of interest.

First the midfielder was made aware that there are two or three clubs looking for him from Saudi, then they reeled off the names and offers. Bennacer is ‘intent on continuing his career elsewhere’, and he would only change his mind if a team from the Premier League came forward.

Milan do not consider him unsellable and could even come down considerably from the clause of €50m in terms of what they would demand, knowing his sale would generate almost a pure capital gain and would allow them to spend the money elsewhere.

Youssouf Fofana is the main name for the midfield but Milan must somehow speed up the Bennacer case because there are other clubs that are keen on the objectives they are chasing and therefore procrastinating too much could see them miss out.

  1. Oh God what are we going to do without his corner kicks which can’t get farther than the near post.. or with his constant injuries.. can’t even imagine

  2. If Bennacer is sold they better buy both Fofana and Wieffer. It also worries me that noone seems to care about the offensive midfielder position where we only have RLC right now. If Fonseca will play 4-2-3-1 we need one more solid omf.

Meanwhile we have 4 players that can play right back and we are chasing one more…

    1. RLC is not really an offensive midfielder, Pioli wanted to make Koopmeiners or Bellingham out of him.

If Fonseca stays with 4231 then Reijnders should be put there because his potential is really hindered playing one of two pivots. Adli can cover for Reijnders as well since he played as pure AM before. Or even better, promote Zeroli.

If no one arrives apart from Fofana, then RLC should be deployed with Fofana in the middle for 4231. That will give much needed physical presence in the midfield and coverage to our defense.

      1. Question if RLC would like to play dropped back a bit. He mentioned that the reason he wanted to get out of Chelsea and join Milan was that he wanted to play as attacking midfielder. He was playing like that under Sarri in Chelsea and had a good run, but they moved him back and eventually he lost place in team and wanted to move out.

He is strong but not sure he actually has good defending qualities (tackling, positioning, movement, covering etc). He maybe is like you mentioned a cheap version of Bellingham in the end.

          1. Yeah, but if he’s just not any good at being more defensive midfielder then what’s the point?

We can as well force Sportiello to play as striker (he is tall and strong), but it’s not the point to force player to play on position he does not fully fit into, because he simply wouldn’t be that efficient there.

          2. I’m ot gonna go into what ifs. But the obvious answer to that question is balance ofc. He ruben sucks at def, then he needs to be paired with someone to pick up his slack.

Something we really lack in midfield nowadays.. slack pickers. Grinta. Gattuso should’ve made more babies and have them be footballers

  3. Sad to see him go. If he does we should sign Tielmanns from Aston Villa. They need to sell due to FFP. He would be a good replacement for Bennacer.

  4. He is good midfielder and key player winning scudetto under pioli . But just like pioli ,his time are over too. Between him and adili , one of them must leave . 30m euro transfer fee already enough for bennacer , that can using buy fofana

  5. He will be very much missed by our opponents and our doctors and therapists… if someone is willing to pay this amount, omg… ill drive him there if need be
