Pedulla voices concern about Milan’s handling of Theo-Leao saga: “Lack of respect”

By Ben Dixon -

The Rafael Leao-Theo Hernandez saga has exploded things at AC Milan. However, it would be a lie if it were said that this was the only cause for things being hectic at present. Today, Alfredo Pedulla took stock of the situation.

Starting the season as Milan have will always add tension, and talk begins, naturally, about how certain players are. As expected, the Rossoneri starting the season with two points from three games has seen this talk in full flow.

Given there is a new head coach in charge, this talk is probably heightened in volume, because he and the squad are yet to fully gel, and understand one another, and this has been the case with Fonseca and his two stars seemingly.

Before the game on Saturday, reports suggested that the duo were going to be dropped from the starting eleven, and Fonseca confirmed his decision was due to tactical reasons. However, with both involved in the side’s equaliser and then ignoring the cooling break team talk, questions have been asked about an internal tension between the trio, which the Diavolo are keen to quieten.

Pedulla spoke to SportItalia about the matter, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“Saturday night I was at the stadium: when I saw that thing from a distance it looked to me like they were leaving, I couldn’t understand it. For me, it’s a surreal thing that has happened a few times in the history of football. Then when I read that AC Milan would implement a soft line on something very serious, I find it hard at 48 hours to understand what a soft line means.

“It was for me a glaring lack of respect towards the coach. I’ve never seen such a thing but above all, I’ve never seen such a softness on something that would have deserved an official exit and an exemplary punishment. If they had done that to Conte, he would have climbed over the barriers and gone to get them.”

    1. To be fair if it had happened at youth level at least when I played any player doing such thing would at the very minimum have been loudly screamed at and probably be fined as well as its disrespectful to everyone involved. Every sportsman knows this is an unacceptable act of dissent and quite frankly if it was up to me then I would fine them a months wages as its destabilizing behaviour and simply sends the wrong signals to the rest of the squad and all the fans around.

    2. How long are you going to talk about this topic? Do you really think you are helping with this question? And who cares what anyone thinks about it?

      1. Assuming that was meant as a reply for me, well its the topic of the article and if anyone has an issue conversating this issue then nobody is keeping them from not reading the articles and comments.
        Pretty simple, problem solved.

  1. If they had done that to Conte, he would have climbed over the barriers and gone to get them.

Man, I thought about that too lol.

  2. Never mind Conte; Maldini would have flipped!
Fonseca should have called them out and Management would have to back him…
I‘m not sure there‘s a way back for these two fools.

  3. Other than when Sarri was trying to take Kepa off for a substitution during a Chelsea League Cup match, I can’t think of a bigger act of disrespect that went, essentially, unpunished.

Fonseca has many “issues” to deal with. Being weak is inexcusable, and will lead to him losing the dressing room. He may have, already, to be honest.

None of us is Nostradamus, so time will tell, but it was NOT a good luck, at the time, or given the weak response afterwards.

Curious to see if they start on the bench, “for tactical reasons,” when we come back from the international break.

  4. im glad leao and theo hernandez did this. i would have done this. clearly this is a coach they see in training day in and day out and they see that he is someone who clearly dosnt know what hes doing and dosnt trust in him.
this fronesca needs to know that respect is earned its not given.

no matter what anyone thinks leao and theo are bigger then fronseca and earn 3 times what he earns. how is someone who earns less then you at your job going to do a power play on you… its not happening. in conclusion fronseca is a waste of time and leao and theo rightfully made a stand against the management and an incapable coach

  5. Using the excuse of new coach being the reason this team hasn’t gel is too shallow, and shows that Ibra and co are not performing well… Juve has a new coach, do does Napoli!
Are they looking as terrible as Milan is?
Leào and Theo needs a hard ass coach, that’s the only way to get the best out of them!
Using kids glove is a big big mistake!!!
