Pedulla: Milan convinced they can get Fofana – Moncada’s ‘diplomatic skills’ key

Geoffrey Moncada’s negotiating skills will be put to the test as the negotiations continue over Youssouf Fofana with Monaco, according to Alfredo Pedulla.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported last night that Milan on Sunday made their first official offer to Monaco for Fofana and it was worth €17m, but it will not be accepted because they are holding out for around €35m, meaning there is a huge gap that will be difficult to bridge.

In an article written on his website (via Radio Rossonera), the journalist Alfredo Pedullà took stock of the negotiations between Milan and Monaco for Fofana as a tug-of-war between the two clubs continues.

“The request of 35 million does not fit with Milan’s strategy, [who are] convinced that they can get him for a figure under 20 million. The news from L’Equipe about a proposal from West Ham in line with Monaco’s requests is confirmed, but Fofana is taking his time for now because he wants Milan and to play in the Champions League,” he said.

“Now a lot will depend on Moncada’s diplomatic skills to close the deal, which is considered a priority for Milan’s new midfield. Obviously, the offer will need to be improved, without too many twists and turns.”

It remains to be seen whether the Rossoneri decide to formulate a third offer for the 25-year-old France international and if it will finally satisfy the Monegasque club.

The data does show that Fofana’s presence would add something that is missing in the Milan midfield, but they will only pay the right price as we have seen from previous negotiations.
